"Something just clicked in my head. 'Beam me up, Scotty!'"

Two entries, back to back? Crazy! The time in between was spent watching a bunny rabbit outside my front window. He didn't see us, and so he hopped about. That's why my plants are gone, Mom said. Haha.

I figure I should record my Chicago adventure, because I didn't write about it save for tweets. This was last week, mind you, haha.

Driving there, I saw the worst driving I've seen in my life. There was one guy with a car trailer in a pickup that was over his cab, and the first turn on the turnpike he straddled two lanes. I tried to get away from him real quick. There were other, but he was the most memorable. I saw the Baby Ruth truck again! Awesome. As soon as I hit the Dan Ryan it was over. Traffic everywhere, and it took another two hours to get through the city. Gross. Anyway, got to Lauren and Chris' house in one piece. We went to dinner that night with her mom and cousin at this place called the Blues Bar in Mount Prospect, which is all themed like the movie The Blues Brothers. They have a car and everything! I had some good pulled pork and sweet potato fries.

I got up to the LFC campus at a relatively normal time, in time for the Senior Brunch. The first professor I see I call the wrong name. What a dumbass I was. XD I called Professor Chen Professor Zhu. Oy. So I was lucky to run into him again in the lunchroom and apologize! I had stir-fry for lunch, along with a couple of the wontons; I had been craving LFC food! I really wish they could deliver me a huge pot of the carrot soup. I want to be served food like that all the time... Anyway, I sat with Jessica, Scott, Matt, and... I forget his name... it's very foreign. XD Anywho, it was great. I bought a T-shirt at the store, meandered to the art building, etc. Jessica and I went into town and shopped for Mother's Day things. We even went to the beach and saw the lake after ice cream from Sweet's. Awesome. ♥
I returned to Lauren's house and we hung around before going out to meet Lauren B. and Meghan in Evanston. It was a fun little girl's night out, eating at LuLu's and talking. I love their coconut curry with yellow noodles. So good. We meandered and got a photo-op at L1's house. It was good seeing people again!

It was cold. I can't plan well enough for it, ever! Usually third time's the charm, but this year's commencement had me seeing my breath in my seats and therefore I was unprepared yet again. I had to get up and walk around. Luckily I caught JLowe and Dennis Mae before they left, so that was cool. I saw everyone I wanted to see and more! Jessica, Emily, Scott, Tom, Tori, Jessamyn, etc... it was so nice. It was like I was able to run into everyone at the right place and time. I didn't go to the reception because I was already cranky and freezing, but I didn't really feel like I had to. The speeches were very good. Mary Jo did one which was nice, and then the commencement speaker, though winded, said that you have to do things for yourself, which I need to take to heart at this moment in time.
Went back to Lauren's and tried to warm up. Seriously, it took me a good two hours, a blanket, and a cup of hot chocolate on a 60 degree day to warm me up. Lauren, Chris and I met Meghan at Mitsuwa Marketplace, the Japanese market that is awesome. I bought snacks and gifts. We had dinner and I had soba, so good! They didn't have the manga I was looking for, but that's OK 'cause I haven't read the last one I got there yet. <,<
After Meghan left we chillaxed for a bit until it was time to see Star Trek! Woohoo! It was very good. I liked learning the backstory of the crew (and even knowing their positions on the ship better), even though I know it's not exactly like the original. I think they updated it very well. And, as Chris said, "Captain Kirk is the fucking man!" XD

Sunday I left fairly late, because I slept in a bit. It was about 2PM when I cruised over to Anime Central to see if I could find the doujinshi that they were compiling. I wandered around, asking people, and no one had a clue about the thing, so I just sort of gave up and left after figuring out that they only listed the winners and didn't actually compile anything. Oh, well, I guess I'm going to have to research these things more carefully. It left me sour. I left Chicago at 3:30, way later than I have before, and so I didn't get home until something crazy like 11. Driving at night on the turnpike sucks. So many crazy drivers! Anywho, I got home OK.

The trip was full of lovely people and awesome food. I'll get back there soon, everyone. ^_^

In completely unrelated news, I've been missing my characters because I haven't seen them around a lot. Maybe I'm trying too hard not to focus on one thing, but where are you? Maybe you can spare some time for me later? Thanks. ^_^
