OK, for some reason I thought this was already posted, but I guess it wasn't. Winter break has been pretty ok! Florida was tolerable (plus I got a new suit), I got to spend another four hours or so at the Book Loft with Jayme, and the brief trip to Cincinnati was something of a waste because my accordion broke and I only got to play five songs at that show, but I had a pretty relaxing few days at home, and now...
I'm home.
Which is to say, I'm in Cincinnati for the quarter. The house in Dayton and even my home home mostly just feel like places to keep my stuff, but Cincinnati is where I really need to be. For now, at least. Give me a couple months and I'll want to leave the country completely. Which brings us to New Year's resolutions! I have resolved to leave the United States at least once this year. Could be a long weekend in Canada, could be a summer study abroad in Australia, could be a passionate affair with a swarthy gentleman spy in the rustic villages surrounding Barcelona, leading to a death-defying (but life-affirming!) race across the Mediterranean to capture the lost treasure. Probably not the last one, but either way I should probably work on getting my passport. I have also resolved to wear purple more frequently, and I had some elaborate theory about how that would lead to me fulfilling typical resolutions like managing my money better, losing weight, and actually getting a date once in a while, but I forget exactly how that worked. Also, I'm going to learn to play trombone (since I bought one on eBay for some reason) and banjo (if my grandpa gives me the one I saw at his house; also, people who don't understand anagrams are always asking me if I play the banjo). My last resolution is to gather a bunch of other musicians and cover Chinese Democracy in its entirety because I actually bought it, listened to it, and thought, "pffft. I could do that. In way less than fourteen years." As you may have guessed, it is not in my Top Ten, which I am reasonably sure I'll be enumerating in the next post. I will not even try to list all the bands I saw, but last night I saw Wonky Tonk, Stick Figures, and See Urchin, so now I've got a good start to this year's list.
