'Half-Blood Prince' just got moved to 2009 because of 'Twilight'?

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is probably the best book in the Potter series.

In it, JK Rowling revealed just enough and crafted a plot that was mesmerizing from start to finish. It tied some loose ends and created new questions regarding the fate of several characters. It set the stage for the finale that is Deathly Hallows.

The film adaptations of these books are just that, adaptations. And most of the time, they don't give the impeccable plots of each book justice. The best and still closest I think is 'Prisoner of Azkaban'.

The 'Half-Blood Prince' trailer was released a month or a few weeks ago. It was really good and looks like it captured the tone of the book. Release date November 21 2008.

Warner Brothers just announced that it is moving HBP to July 17 2009. Hardcore Potter fans are in an outrage.

Funny how the people involved in the 'Twilight' film adaptation moved their release date to November 21. The reason? Because they "saw a unique opportunity to slot in [their] film which has been gaining tremendous awareness and momentum over the past several months." They were also quick to say that "by no means are [they] trying to fill the shoes of the incredible POTTER franchise for 2008."

From what I've been hearing about that vampire sex and romance romp, the Potter series and 'Twilight' should not be mentioned in the same sentence, let alone 'Half-Blood Prince'.

When critics say that Potter strays into more adult territory as the series progresses, they are not talking about sex. As for 'Twilight', I read from the blog of my friend's sister the latest book features quite a romp. Yeah, the headboard-breaking and bruise making kind. Introducing S&M to tweens? Sige, OK lang. Stick to High School Musical na lang, kiddos.
