I'm really going to like this job.
For the most part, this week (Wed - Fri), I sat with people who are in my department, but doing things that I probably won't be doing. They want people cross-trained in case they need backup. No problem, job security. I pretty much sat with Bo, Thea and others so I can know what they do. I pretty much fit in with most everyone in the group. Alot of gamers and geeks :-) YEAH!! Thea is really kick ass. We share the same interests and she's really friendly and outgoing. We hit it off immediately. She pretty much showed me the ropes on some of the tools that she uses and others on the team uses. Pretty cool. Ran into Sulek, Joe and Dan O'Donnell, too! They are also in the same business group and cool to see them as well. Too bad I'm going over to HF instead of staying over at JF since I know most of my team over at JF.
Going to get the real training on Monday (ie- job specific training). Can't wait to get started. It was fun seeing how things worked, and that is what the managers wanted me to do, but since I wasn't actually doing anything, I totally felt like a slacker, and I can't slack when I work. I tried to learn to be a slacker at McDonald's but I just don't have the personality type for it.
They told me I will be one busy person, and I told them Good, that means job security :-) I like to be busy at work, it not only makes the day go by faster, but also makes me feel like I earned my money. I'm weird like that :-)
Anyway, was a good week and damn good timing on the employment.
Last week, my regular unemployment benefits ran out and I filed for extension to cover last week and a small part of this week. The crappy thing is that they sent out the form for extension with the last "check" in the mail. Well, the "last check" I did not receive anything in the mail. I got it after finding out in another letter that my unemployment balance was $0. I asked them why the hell they did that, that they are messing with ppl's lives when they do that. Good thing my "last check" was in the middle of the month so I don't have to miss rent, car payment or other big bills. I would have been extremely pissed off. I was upset, but they should have entered my info in and should be direct depositing my paycheck today or monday. I just checked my account and its not there, but when I look at the online claim system, it shows payment was sent, so it will either post tomorrow or monday.
