Spain 5

Dec 02, 2009 16:54

[Antonio has set himself up in the living room with a sign made from some posterboard and a marker. Apparently, he's been reading the comics; the sign says "Psychiatric Advice--The Boss is In!". The Spaniard had always figured himself as sort of a good advice giver--if nothing else he can be helpful to the rest of the group. He's also...maybe ( Read more... )

...Psychiatric advice? So you're the one to go to for it?

[A cheerful grin] I'm no doctor or anything but...I offer a listening ear, at least! And people have told me I'm okay at giving advice. In a place like this...I feel like everyone could use someone to talk to.

[Van chuckles softly.] How very kind of you.

I may actually need to ask for some advice for my own.

[He taps the chair beside him and grins] Okay! Hablas con mi. What's the problem?

[Van offers him a smile and takes a seat. At the very least, this could be an amusing waste of time.]

I suppose the situation with the game is obvious enough, but there is one thing that I've been considering.

[He pauses a moment.] If this game ends and I survive it, I'm not entirely sure if I'd like to return to my home.

You wouldn't like to be home? But I don't understand, don't people usually...want to go to see their families?

Something has happened with yours. What was it? [Why yes, that is genuine concern in the Spaniard's voice. Familia es importante. It's a given rule. How strange...how sad to see someone who didn't know that...]

[It seems what he said struck...something in the other man.]

My family is dead. Returning home won't change that. [He frowns deeply, realizing just how much of that is true. Even if Tear still breathes, her fate is no different...]

[He places a hand on the other's shoulder, trying not to overstep any boundaries--his usual response would be a rather Spanish hug...and that would probably be bad on random strangers. Montezuma hadn't exactly liked it, after all.]

I am deeply sorry for your loss, señor...but I feel like there is more. Perhaps...someone is sick? Or something of that sort.

[And this is why he's good at advice--that weird sort of way of reading people's thoughts.]

[Van's quiet for a long moment, looking downward. It seems he underestimated this man, but he'll continue to play his role.]

...There is nothing I can do to save my sister's life. The disease on my world will take her life.

Your sister...?

What kind of disease? [His questions are intent, now. Yes, he remembers. He remembers the Black Plague. He remembers smallpox. He remembers disease in every way, shape, or form. And most of all, he remembers it's devastating effects...not just on the people afflicted, but on those left behind.]

Tell me about your sister.

It's a disease of the heart and mind. Those inflicted with it are powerless to fight it, and they lose the ability to think or feel for themselves. Eventually...

[He pauses.] Eventually, they lay down and let themselves die.

That's...horrible.

[Spain pauses, taking a moment to absorb this. The thought of...having someone losing their heart and mind...just like that? The country of passion himself can barely imagine it...]

...and your sister--what is her name? Your sister was afflicted by that?

Tear, is her name. [Van shakes his head and sits straighter, looking at him.] It's a common affliction on my world. There is no cure for it other than death.

[His expression hardens.] In merely a matter of years, everyone on my world may die because of it. You'd understand why I'm hesitant to return home, of course?

[ooc: don't worry about it mate! XD]

Tear? A lovely name. [He nods, a thoughtful expression on his face.]

I understand why you wouldn't want to return home...but yet at the same time...shouldn't you be there? Maybe being at your sister's side--it may not save her but perhaps it could comfort her in her final days...no?

[If only it was that simple...]

Of course, I want nothing more but her final days to be comforting.

[He pauses again, considering a long moment. All it would require was Guy or Asch to question this man...] I assume you'll tell no-one of what I've said? Or what I might continue to say?
