Topher 2

Uggh... so many names, so many choices, so little time, so little chance of being right, so frakking annoying. What I would give to at least be back home on my futon, surrounded by the hum of machinery - it's too quiet here for a technological genius such as myself to be myself. Am I doomed to go insane from electronics withdrawal?

Ah, I think we can all agree we'd rather be home right now, but I couldn't help but notice that you mentioned machines... are you a big fontech buff yourself? Or maybe you're even an engineer!

Fontech...? Oh! [Topher's eyes light up in recognition] Yes, it's quite similar to fontech, works on the same basic principles, I'm a programmer. I can't get enough of my computers, honestly... they can be so fickle, but just working with them gives me such a thrill, a sense of absolute power - my work is what my company will be known as, and I'm rather obsessive about making it perfect for that reason.

A programmer, huh? Man, that's gotta be so amazing! A lot of people don't respect the amount of work that goes into fontechnology, even when so much of it really helps make our lives a lot easier. I only tinker a bit here and there, but the real technicians are people to admire. Marvel, even.

So are you saying you have fontechnology in your world, too? Or are you possibly using machines that don't run on fonons?

Programming is as a puzzle to me - I have a specific size, and thousands upon thousands of possibilities to fit into that area. It's a thrill every time I make a new program - no two are ever alike, yet they're almost alive when run... nobody outside of work really even knows what they are and the careful attention to detail I put into each and every one of my creations - my works of art ( ... )

Well, ummm... I could build another robot?

Ah, Precis, please do so. Robbie Tossin' isn't something you want to get out of practice on, and you can't practice it without Robbie, right? Robbie'd whir and hum enough to calm anyone down, I know, I'm a genius.

Robbie? What the heck is that? I mean, I could probably build it, but...

[[ooc: this Precis is taken from the old SO2 release, not SE, so she knows him as Bobot, sorry T_T;;]]

(OOC: I understand - I can look up the PS1 names)

Robbie, uh, well... maybe you know him as Bobot? There have been a couple different versions of your story, and each used different names for some things.

Oh quite right you are that we are rather short on time. However, it is rather nice to meet a self proclaimed technological genius such as yourself. I just might have something to show you, only if you are interested.

[One look, and topher has figured out it's Doctor Who reincarnation #10] Guh... gah... it's... oh, maaaan, a dream come true. If you're here, good Doctor, perhaps... perhaps your TARDIS is here as well? It's every fanboy's dream to be able to see the insides of one. I am more than interested, believe me!

[Is fascinated that Topher had heard of him from somewhere.] How fascinating! So you know about me from somewhere? Oh this is just brilliant! Why yes, the TARDIS is here!

Oh, maaaaaaaaaaan... the real TARDIS, the real Doctor Who... say what we will about this "game", the side effects are better than drugs. Oh, not that I'd know about that, but this is serious geek heaven.

I know what you mean...I miss the sounds of badly played instruments.

I could play Guitah for you if that'd help!

geniustopher November 20 2009, 18:34:08 UTC
You know... I think that would help. I can't figure out why, but... playing Guitah without plugging it in would be quite calming. I don't know how I know that, though.

Okay! I can do that!

I guess they thought it'll be too easy for us if they gave us a hint as to who the traitor is?

Reply

geniustopher November 20 2009, 18:32:41 UTC
Well, yeah... two of us are traitors, and without a single clue, a genius like myself cannot figure out a single thing. That's almost as annoying as the total lack of computers so high-end they're not even on the market's future radar yet.

thiswhiteroom November 20 2009, 18:57:39 UTC
Well, after a while it'll be easier to figure out. Once people start dying, you'll know who isn't the traitor!

True, true... but I get more than a little squeamish around bloody deaths, I'd rather keep things clean than have to clean any of that up ever again. [Topher's making a very "disgusted at the thought" face]
