[As the last chimes fade away, Yuffie Kisaragi peers cautiously around a corner. Nothing scary seems to be coming--and anyway, Yuffie Kisaragi eats monsters for breakfast! (Well, actually, she had some of Kiri's leftover eggs, but that's not the point.)]
[Fishing a materia out of her pocket, for luck, she continues stealthily down the hall with Conformer clutched tightly in her other hand, looking right and left with her ears cocked for the slightest sound. If something's coming to kill people, well, it's her job as a ninja of Wutai to kill it first, right?]
[And--her eyes narrow--there is a shadow on the wall up ahead, near the kitchen, as if cast by the light from inside. A very strange shadow. Definitely not human.]
[Holding Conformer at the ready, Yuffie rushes around the corner--]
Alright, you monste...!!
[--and stops in her tracks. Her eyes go as round as the materia slipping from her suddenly numb fingers, and Yuffie takes a step back, then another and another, flinching as her back bumps the wall.]
Wha...wh... [She gulps, dry-throated.] What is that?!
