Mondays during the school year are not the hell for me that they are for most people -- after a weekend of dealing with everybody and everything, it's the start of time for me, doing what I want when I want to (within limits, of course). That makes Mondays during the summer that much more difficult. During the summer, I usually have Steve to take some of the heat, and to (regularly -- frequently, even!) take one or more of the kids off my hands to go fishing.
Also, I saw at the Kroger last week the latest installment in a series of books that I enjoy. When I went online to find it, I found that I'd missed an installment, so I was behind by two books! I downloaded both, and then read the last one first. OOOoops. But it's ok 'cause I started the series in the middle and all the books are relatively stand-alone. There's no info-dumps to get you "in the loop" even in the first book (as far as I can recall; I want to go back and re-read one of these days) but the information is more or less transmitted as you go along in easy snippets. Although, it does help to read from the beginning.
And unlike some series I could name, this one doesn't have fourteen different story arcs and forty-three different points of view all competing for book space. It's nice and tight and engaging from front to back. So I'm happy to have them. And I'm almost finished with them. And they are YUMMY.
