general ranting and raving, and possibly a book list

I went on a nearly month-long vacation for June--the kids and I left on Memorial Day for my parents' in VA. Steve joined us on the 18th and we went to PA to visit his mom and get his boat (OMG an exercise in irritation and frustration!) and then we got back home on the 27th. I'm fairly sure that the only cleaning that happened while I was gone was necessary laundry and dishes. The fridge was scary; ditto the microwave. I haven't quite worked up the courage to tackle the master bathroom yet. On the plus side, I have completely sparkle-ized the fridge, and dusted/decluttered/mopped the playroom and the kitchen, and I'm nearly-almost caught up on laundry (a couple of loads of regular clothes, a load or two of blankets/quilt, and a couple of pillows--and as I was typing, a heavy but brief rain fell, forcing me to run grab the laundry off the line...*sigh*)

However, the animal fur, it is EVERYWHERE and it is overwhelming. Also, my houseplants may or may not recover--and the bean Daniel was trying to grow is definitely dead as a door nail (it was allllll over the floor, thanks SO much, kitty). And I have a massive headache.

All of which means I'm going through a reading doldrum--I know I have a bunch of books still at Mom and Dad's getting ready to come down here the next time they visit, and I have a ton of books which always seem to be needing to be reorganized and dusted and whatnot. So, purge time! I have gone through two bookcases, and just disposed of at least 1/6 of what was on there flat-out with another 1/6-1/4 for me to skim through another time and make a final decision on. I'm considering what to do with my discards; I'd ideally like to pass them on to friends or sell them to Amazon or Powell's...Right now it's exclusively romance/paranormal/urban fantasy type stuff, with the exception of Kon-tiki and my baby book. And a couple of f/sf-types. Oh, and then there's the stuff I plan to eventually get in ebook form and then dispose of the paper book (I know, blasphemy, but space demands!!)

*sigh* I need a nap, but I've got dough rising and corned beef on the stove awaiting its potatoes, carrots and cabbage...
