2 Great things today!

Our community garden (Bodine Street Community Garden) won a FIRST PLACE prize in the City Gardens Contest! This is the first time our garden entered the contest. I feel like our little garden has been out of the loop for the last 20+ years, but since the threat of having ugly townhomes built on it over 5 years ago and battling tooth and nail to save it, it was time to get some accolades.

It's amazing how far our garden has come. From a trash-filled vacant lot in the 70s to award-winning official protected green space today. It's just so awesome. YAY!

Thing number Two...some of you out there may not know that I do a lot of hanging out on the Internets with mostly queer women and some awesome srt8 chicks that are either trying to have kids or have kids. On these message boards people often have tickers in their signature files. They are like graphical goal markers. When I went to make a ticker for myself it was seriously slim pickins trying to find a ticker that didn't make me cringe. They are mostly whimsical with baby dust and fairies and crap (sorry if you're into that kind of thing).

Another Internet friend of mine was complaining about how corny these tickers are and said something like "hey you do computer stuff, make cool tickers."

After thinking about it for a second I thought "yeah, I could do that!"

So over a year later my ticker site is live!

I recruited my co-worker Troy into helping me with the fancy programming part.
We only have one type of ticker up right now, but we will make more.

Here's one I just made:

Try it out :-)
