It's been a while since I opened up comments for questions about psychological issues. I thought it would be good to start off the year with a few. I offer my brain up because, as a psychologist, I HATE reading books that get it wrong when it comes to disorders, therapy, relationship dynamics, etc. For those new to my little spot on the internet, let me give you the rules. First, I am NOT giving out counseling tips. I am NOT doing therapy on line. Second, if the question is complex, I reserve the right to answer it in a blog at a later date...on a Wednesday. Third, I am a PSYCHOLOGIST...not a PSYCHIATRIST. What's the difference you ask? The first is a socially sanctioned voyuer and Chatty Cathy. The second is a socially sanctioned drug pusher. Get it? Got it? Good. So what does this clarification mean to you? Simple. Don't ask me questions about medication. That leaves you with what? Well, you can ask me to explain a diagnosis/disorder you've heard about. You can ask me about different types of therapy. You can ask me about anything psychological that you think will help make your characters more realistic.
Okay...One...Two...Three...GO!
