How do I qualify for a free federal and state return?

You qualify to file your federal and state returns online for free with TurboTax Online if you plan to file your state return in a participating Free File Alliance state and meet one of the following criteria:

- You qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC), or

- During calendar year 2005, you:
  - Earned a total of $35,000 or less, or
  - Served active military duty (including the Reserves and National Guard) and have a 2005 Form W-2 from the military.

The following states sponsor a Free File Alliance: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Vermont.

You must start and continue your return from http://www.statetaxfreedom.com to receive this free service.

The Intuit Tax Freedom Project is an initiative of the Intuit Financial Freedom Foundation. Intuit donates TurboTax Online to taxpayers who meet eligibility criteria announced at the beginning of the tax season. (The company has donated more than 7 million returns since this program began in 1998.)
