But if you do, play to win.
The end of the semester is awfully close. Only one class session left, and it's promised to be short. Final assignment has been turned in for one class. Grant writing assignment due Friday afternoon, final paper for Health Systems due tomorrow and currently undergoing last rewrites and edits, and there's a brief article analysis due early next week that will probably be banged out on Sunday since the weather forecast for that day is craptacular and does not at all encourage me to drive to Frankfort and play with little toy starships.
Besides, I'm doing that Friday night and Saturday afternoon, so, no sense saturating myself with it.
After finishing the season with two bad losses, UofL football is going to the Citrus Bowl on New Year's Eve, facing LSU. Dad, unsurprisingly and seriously, asked if I wanted to go to the game when pairings were announced, but I think we're going to opt for living room and large TV time, instead. UK's playing at the same time, so we can flip channels and graze on lots of snacks and have a good day. And then I'll head back here or to Lexington for New Year's Eve foolishness.
Played a lot of X-Wing last weekend, when perhaps I should have been working, but I felt confident enough in my progress to give myself some time to indulge. Friday night saw an Outer Rim Heroes tournament - 60-point squads, four players per match, scoring based on eliminations. I did okay, managing some ad hoc alliances that kept things going, and we had a brand new player join, and the night's door prize went to a newish younger player, so all was well that night - plus more alt-art cards for the collection. Drove to Shepherdsville for some games Saturday. ARC-170s everywhere. More alt-art cards. Good times.
Something's gone nuts here in Louisville this year. We've seen over 400 shootings, and 112 fatalities. Worst in decades. It's mostly happening in West Louisville (of course), but there have been some incidents down around the Belknap campus, and a couple in Smoketown, just across Broadway from HSC. Not good.
