So we all know State was this weekend, but did we know how awesome Lakeshore was going to be? No, no we did not. They were AMAZING. The show was solid, the music was beautiful and the marching was above average, which is good for us.
Ferndale was spectacular, but Lakeshore should not feel bad about how they did. It was the best Lakeshore performance I'd seen since State Caliente year.
This weekend was a blast (illness not included). Friday night Jenna came up to Calvin and we showed her all our hang-out spots. Aka: a coffee shop, the movie theater and Yesterdog. We saw I Heart Huckabees and just let me say that while some may disagree, it was quite an entertaining movie.
Weird? yes.
Slightly immoral? yes.
Full of obscene language? yes.
Hillarious? yes.
Then we woke up super early (maybe too early) Saturday morning, piled in the Cavie and headed off to Pontiac. We got there in time to see Durand perform (and loose!). It was so fun to watch, but their music was not so hot. Drill wise, however, spectacular.
We saw all of Flight III-- Lakeshore took 2nd in a spectacular competition, if you weren't there-- and parts of Flight II. Reeths-Puffer was amazing this year as was Jenison. We didn't get to see Mona Shores however due to air-lock difficulties. We also decided not to stay for Plymouth Canton, which was sad, but wise.
After we left the Dome, we went out to dinner with John, Joe and Emily Cox which was fun, even though Joe and Geoff made us stay there forever so they could watch the end of the Michigan/Michigan State game. It really wasn't so bad though, since I got to talk to John for a while. After that, we drove to Ann Arbor and stayed @ Geoff's house. His mom was hillarious, and bought all of us U of M tee shirts with little sparkles on them, pumpkins and had little craft things for us to make. It was fun.
Then we drove over to U of M and walked around campus looking at all the freaky people who were dressed up for Halloween. Jenna saw Robbie from City Hight there, or rather he saw her, since he was dressed in drag and she didn't recognize him. It was funny. We were only there like an hour since Geoff and I were both dying of diesase.
Sunday morning we went to church and then Geoff's family fed us really really good food and we left. It was pretty much a great weekend. I hope that all the people I saw at State but didn't really talk to had a good time and safe travels. See you all at Christmas (since I'll be gone for Thanksgiving).
Happy Ending.
