This year Valentine's Day was absolutely spectacular! It started out when I went to run some errands real quick and I stopped at my mailbox first, only to find 50 valentine's from Nick tellin me how much he loved me. When I got home, Nick was nowhere to be found. But there was a rose and a note on the front door telling me to be ready by 6:15. So I got ready. I curled my hair (cuz Nick likes my hair curled), and put on a black dress with tiny white polka dots, and the new heels Nick bought me; and I topped the outfit off with a strand of pearls. (I looked HOT if I do say so myself) I paced for the last 10 minutes before Nick got here, and I was nervous. It was like we were meeting for the first time again. (A year later and he still makes me giddy!)
Nick arrived promptly at 6:15 in a nice suit with red and white roses in his hand. I was speechless. He looked SO good. I fell in love with him all over again. Then he took me to Ciao Bello (a nice Italian restaurant in the Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock) It was a great dinner, and dessert was stupendous! Then when it was time to leave, about an hour later, Nick walked me to the car and made me close my eyes. He drove around for a while, and I had no idea where we were going. Then he stopped and walked me to our destination (eyes still shut). He told me to wait with my eyes closed and I heard him open and shut a door. So I patiently waited with my eyes still closed. Then I heard the door open and Nick's voice. He made me take a few steps forward and told me to open my eyes.
I started to cry. He had reserved a room at the Meadowbrook Inn. There were candles all over the room. A king size bed, a couch, and a fireplace! On the desk Champagne was chilling with two glasses and music was playing. There were french doors leading out to an indoor veranda. The very first song we danced to came on the radio and we danced out on the candlelit veranda, Champagne in hand. It felt so good to be in his arms, and knowing that we're going to spend the rest of our lives together. Then, as if the whole night wasn't wonderful enough, he gave me a present. I opened it and there was a cute little dog stuffed animal and a little white box. Inside the little white box was a necklace with a circle pendant of diamonds. It was called the 'circle of love.' It was gorgeous! And I cried again, haha. (The rest is confidential) *wink wink*
This next deployment is going to be difficult. But when Nick gets home, we will be starting a whole new chapter to our life. We have been making plans to get engaged and marry shortly after, before his transfer to Georgia. It might happen that I will get a job out of my internship and stay in Raleigh when he moves to Georgia for a couple months. We'll plan to have the wedding in North Carolina and Nick will come see me as much as he can and help out with the planning. And once we tie the knot, I'll make my move to Georgia. OR after my internship, we'll move to Georgia and plan the wedding in Georgia (Savannah would be a beautiful place for a wedding!! Haha, but I'm not holding my breath on that one)
Anyway, I'm starting to ramble again. To sum this journal up in four words:
I LOVE NICHOLAS CLARKE.
