San Fran trip, Pixar bound!

Life sure is interesting right now. It tends to be really really rough, then throw little gifts in my lap in unexpected ways; like a "making it through said rough days" gift. I am finishing a movie called "Ghost World" as the washer, dryer and dishwasher finish up my chores for me. It seems fitting for now. My clothes have to be done soon so that I can get some rest. I will leave for San Francisco at 4:30 AM.

How do you know when you have reached a goal or a dream has come true? I am convinced it doesn't always happen so obviously. I think a lot of the time it sneaks up on you and you realize by accident. With me, one of those dreams was to work for a big time animation production industry. Somewhere like Pixar. I just figured I would know because I would be working at Pixar.

I have been taking classes on www.animationmentor.com. Sunday I will be attending a BBQ held by the school that I was invited to. It is hosted by a few people in the industry including several Pixar animators. They chose me to be the featured student on the site so I have to sign the release form and bring it to them along with some photos and some of my work....

hmm

I have no idea how to react because I am kind of speechless and dumbfounded. Five years ago I would have nearly fainted in excitement. Oh, don't get me wrong, I am still excited, the only difference now is, that I grew up a little. Between then and now, I have been chewed up and spit out a few times. Worked until I earned a few gray hair, have picked myself back up and dust myself off. I have heard critiques and praises. I have been proud of my work and I have lost total belief in my talent at the same time. I grew up about it so I take this as an opportunity but not an easy ticket. It is only the beginning and yes, even though I do not show it on the outside, I am really humbled and excited.

I have 4 days in San Fran and a really cool opportunity to meet some people who I have admired. I will take this, enjoy, learn and be grateful.

I do not look forward to the laundry and packing though haha.
