Master of the Night by Angela Knight
Erin Grayson is part of a new faction of the US Government called the Outfit. She is currently investigating Death Cults and a way to stop them from killing more innocent people. These Death Cults seem to think they are practicing majick and summoning demons, and her last partner was killed by them while they were trying to bring down a faction. Her shrinks and psychologists have made her believe that she didn't really see what she thought she saw, and that drugs must have been responsible for the so-called magick that was use that night.
Her new mission: learn if Reece Champion is the source of the Death Cults income. He has the cash, but does he have the motivation? She must get her information using any means possible, even if she has to seduce him.
Reece is not actually funding Death Cults. But he does have issues of his own. Namely, he's a vampire. Vampires and Magi (witches) were created by Merlin and Nimue on Earth in order to bring stability and justice to a world that was likely to destroy itself without guidance. King Arthur, Guenevere, and all his knights were normal human beings that drank from Merlin's Grail in order to become the protectors of mankind.
The Mageverse is a place that is connected to Earth but not on Earth and all the vampires and Magi live in the mystical city of Avalon, where they cannot be detected. Every country on Earth is assigned a protector, and Reece is America's protector.
Erin doesn't know it, but she's a Latent, descended from one of the Vampires or a Maja and doesn't know she has powers. Powers that can only come to fruition if she has (unprotected) sex with a vampire 3 times.
Erin's government faction has been infiltrated by the Death Cults, and now she and Reece find themselves in the clutches of a demon who wants to use them to create a spell to destroy the Mageverse. Only they can stop the madness that is about to be unleashed.
It's kind of a far-fetched backstory, and the whole 3 times sexing up a Vampire or Maja to get your powers thing is a little crazy, but this was actually a good book. I have more of the series on my shelf, so i hope i enjoy them too!
