My hobbit heart is full of satisfaction at the moment. The much advertised spaghetti sauce is merrily burbling away in the crockpot downstairs. The nice part about a do-ahead meal item like this is that the kitchen is all clean, everything put away afterward. When Ian gets home tonight, I can just enjoy his company instead of scurrying around to ( Read more... )

I, too, love the Tostitos salsa! I buy a couple jars whenever it's on sale, and discovered on Sunday that I'm out of it. Oh, no!

You did chime in on the sauce talk -- see yesterday's post for link down memory lane. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I have almonds and walnuts on hand also. Raisins and craisins in salads I both love. I wonder why they don't make something similar out of blueberries. I'd think that would be good. Huh.

Loving the cheese, natch.

There are dried blueberries, and they're way high in antioxidants. Dried cherries, too. But they aren't as widely mass-produced, so you'll probably find them in a different aisle than the boxes of raisins. Ask at the service desk.

Sounds like a Whole Foods item. Speaking of which, I need to make a cheese run sometime soon anyhow!

Way high in antioxidants = a good thing, right? :)

This may sound weird, but if you like Ranch dressing (or any of the creamy dressings in fact) you should try cooked corn in your salad. Warm, obviously, setting off the cold of the salad. And creamy anything with corn is usually a win in my book.

I will tell you however that I picked this up from the Golden Corral... Just, consider the source. *grin*

As a matter of fact, I LOVE cooked corn in my salad! I picked that up from Houston's restaurant, so looks like it's popular at more than one place on the spectrum of restaurant types. ;)

Thanks for the tip!
