Made it up and out to the Y early this morning for the third day in a row! My cup so runneth over with awesome that it's creating quite a delightful mess... bad metaphor. Let's move on. The Y was virtually empty at 6:30 this morning when I arrived, so I decided to use that opportunity to try something new(ish). Instead of walking the treadmill, I did a round of the digital weight machines this morning. I've done those before -- many years ago,
kajivar and I used to work out at Bally's together, and we used this type of machine there. (And working out has rarely been so much fun as it was with a buddy!) I had high hopes of trying the ski machiney elliptical thingee which I've never tried before. I was surprised that the circuit of weight machines took my entire 40 minutes, however. I had no time left to spare for cardio. But THREE DAYS, man, threeee daaaays! Year of the Leopard - rowr!
Class last night went about a billion times better than I thought it would. We are moving into our final project for the term, a group project. I got reassigned to a new group. They're cool, they're gung-ho. We sketched out the skeleton of our project and got much more work accomplished than I even hoped we could. I feel confident about the rest of this class.
Since class got out early, Ian and I had dinner together. Our favorite restaurant has changed their distributor for tortilla chips and we're bummed about that. We talked about the continuing stress of his job search and related items. Students in his class are starting to get job offers. The first offers for artists came in yesterday. I consider this a very good sign -- if nothing else, at least we have proof that the class is employable! We continue to wait, however.
Was anyone else aware that Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks from today? We're heading to Gulf Shores, Alabama to spend it with Ian's family.
kajivar's
post this morning about a George R.R. Martin series moving to television made me think of a friend who's a Martin fan. (Mike -- T'Shael from Everhate.) I dropped him a note with links to the news story and that's when I recalled that he lives not far from Gulf Shores. Perhaps if he's in the area for the holidays we can meet him? That'd be cool.
Ian's out for zombie hunting tonight. I took a good look at Left 4 Dead last night and realized conclusively that this game is not for me. I'm prone to zombie nightmares and this game would no doubt deliver! I told Ian that I could try it during daylight hours, and I'd have to set a timer for my activity and abide by it strictly. I don't think I could endure much of this really awesome looking game before it Got To Me. But anyway - he's putting down the living dead. I'm gonna do our Sam's run and putter around the house making some clean spots, and catching up on "The Shield" and "Sons of Anarchy" tonight, I think. I'm actually looking forward to a night to myself!
