Post-Toasty

It's not even noon yet here in Texas, and already my day has been enormously productive. I've run several loads of laundry, and I plan to fold the clean stuff later today while catching up on TiVo'ed programs and maybe the original "Clerks" which we have from Netflix. Watched or not, it's going home tomorrow since we've simply had it kicking around too long!

I'm off to the grocery store and gas station shortly to get those two minor requisite errands out of the way early. Right now I'm enjoying a short break sitting down after a marathon cleaning session in the kitchen. Starting out, I wasn't sure how much energy I wanted to dedicate to cleaning my kitchen today, so I decided to divide the enormous chore into a million tiny pieces. I looked around and asked, "What doesn't belong here?" over and over. I got the kitchen cleared of clutter. Then what didn't belong there were dead leaves from the plants, and dust, and spatter on the counters, then scum on the stovetop, scum on the bottom of the oven... before I knew it, what didn't belong in the kitchen was disorder and dirt! I haven't touched the floors, and I haven't polished the copper. If Cinderella has energy after the other chores of the day, I may return to those. As is, I call victory!

I'll think I'll employ the "What doesn't belong here?" method for decluttering and cleaning again in the future. That seemed to work really well.

It's gorgeous here -- sunny, high 60s, very slight breeze. I have the windows open, fans on, classic rock playing, incense burning. I'm sure that's about to come to a screeching halt as I'm now going to wake up Ian. He'll probably want to turn on the air conditioning! At the very least, I predict the open windows won't last long. They've sure been nice while they've lasted, however!
