Friday, October 7th:
- Dinner at La Tolteca, where we all ate way more cheese than we ought.
-
Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit - Oh, SOOOOOOO funny. I recommend it to all..."WEEEEE!!!!!!!!"
Saturday, October 8th:
- Slept until 11 am...unheard of in our house.
- Ripped songs onto my computer for various mix cd creations (for others...not myself...I'm usually a listen-to-the-entire-album-at-a-time girl)
- Researched the best way to the MCI Center in DC for McCartney...the Metro starting at Greenbelt station. :) (Holly (
everblue3), if I'd really thought about it, we could have made plans for a meal...your busy schedule considered)
- Michele and I ventured down to DC and ate dinner at Five Guys (I think that's the name) where they have, supposedly, the best burgers in Washington. I'd most-likely agree to that assertion. Yummmm...cheeseburger...
- At the MCI Center: Bought the last two copies of the new album at the specific merch table as well as other items, one being the poster you can see in the picture down the below somewhere.
- The Set list, including a few songs who's titles at the time escaped me, though I knew them...go figure:
The missing songs on page 1 near the top would be "Flaming Pie" and "I'll Get You," and then the one under Just Paul is...you guessed it..."In Spite of All the Danger." duh...
And up near the top of page 2 one got cut off: "Follow Me."
Anyhow, let's just say that both Michele and I, after nearly 3 hours of straight McCartney, were questioning whether we'd dreamed the whole thing and were wanting to go back right away. And
carondelet11 ,
who wrote a moving post on her concert going experience down in Miami (the kick-off for the US tour), was totally not exaggerating about some of the songs she commented on...like "Let Me Roll It" and "Helter Skelter." I knew it was coming, but I think I freaked out just as much. It was so stink'n good.
There were quite a few touching moments. We all cheered for John and George and even sang Happy Birthday to John (it's on the set list ;] *snif*) at some point.
There were quite a few funny points as well. He shared how he'd fallen in the hole (where the piano eventually comes up) on the 3rd night (I think) of the tour. He shared his funny little bit about using the word 'peradventure' in "English Tea," saying he was quite proud of its use in the lyrics but he was probably the only one who really cared. And then, right before Sgt. Pepper's reprise at the end of the show, he says, "There comes a time when we need to go home." The crowd boos...good-naturedly. He continues in a parent-trying-not-to-laugh-while-scolding voice, "And there comes a time when you need to go home." Michele and I laughed, though we didn't want it to end either.
Here's a picture of the two of us before leaving the MCI Center:
The whole ride home I was in a bit of a stupor. I think that's even an understatement.
Sunday, October 9th:
Still on something of a high from McCartney, we ventured to church, then over to find me a sofa-bed for after Michele moves out (she'd already found one for her apartment), and finally to the MD Renaissance Festival. It was an all around good time. There was food and wine a-plenty, Macbeth in 20 minutes, sword-swallowing, The Rogues (a rock'n bag-pipe group), and too many purchases at the Bee (honey) store. Oh, and here's two more photos:
There's so much more I could add, but really, I'm supposed to be working right now. Woops...
Sorry again to
smor and
whereismysam for the mix-up. We really need to brainstorm. What is it you'd like to do in MD? Or did you have ideas for other short road-trips (PA) or DE destinations? Let me know your thoughts.
Yeah, so I'm going to start work now. I hope you all had lovely weekends, too, and that this Wednesday treats you well!
