Habitual Slacking Off?

Sep 01, 2006 09:08

The past two evenings, though I've been home, have been spent doing very little that could be termed 'productive'.

Both nights involved movies and pizza. (Okay, so maybe I hemmed two pairs of pants last night, too. Still...) And if you'd be tempted to defend scooping litter boxes and setting out the trash for pick up as productive, you should know that both were done for the sake of self preservation instead.

This morning, though, I felt the compulsive stirrings deep within. Tonight I'll very likely end up tearing my house to pieces in the beginning efforts of putting it back together just how I like. And the prospect of a long weekend to use to do so just builds the excitement, to me anyhow.

Now I'm going to comment on last night's movie choice, because I find it kind of funny.

I was never one of those teenage girls prone to gushing over crushes, personally known or of movie star quality. In fact, I've never been so 'boy crazy' in general, though I'm obviously interested in members of the opposite gender. I've been known to lock car windows to prevent friends from winding them down to call out to guys in adjacent cars, one example of many like it.

Anyhow, I watched Troy last night, and I'll admit that while I really do enjoy a good fight scene (thanks to my brother, most likely) and the waves of emotion brought on by...well...everything, I totally put it in the DVD player because: How can any sane woman resist a movie with Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom and some occasional Sean Bean thrown in?

There, that's it. I've said it, admitted it. Heh. ladybluestar, would you mind gracing me with that one Orlando icon? ;}

Yeah, so anyway... There are just some songs that get my hopelessly romantic blood rushing, one of which I rediscovered this morning on the way to work. I tend to listen to 'safe' music with Ms Deb along, and The Beatles are about as safe as you can get, seeing as they date back to the late 60's (not saying that if anyone from that generation really listened closely they wouldn't be surprised...but apparently not many do, or so I've been told by some very musically involved individuals that were young adults during that time period). Anyhow, With the Beatles was in the player and "All I've Got To Do" came on. It's not so much the words, which are certainly of a romantic flavor, but the way John sings them, and the harmony on Paul's part...*sigh* *melts*

Whenever I want you around yeah
All I gotta do
Is call you on the phone
And you'll come running home
Yeah that's all I gotta do

And when I, I wanna kiss you yeah
All I gotta do
Is whisper in your ear
The words you long to hear
And I'll be kissing you

And the same goes for me
Whenever you want me at all
I'll be here yes I will
Whenever you call
You just gotta call on me, yeah
You just gotta call on me

And when I, I wanna kiss you, yeah
All I got to do
Is call you on the phone
And you'll come running home
Yeah, that's all I gotta do

And the same goes for me
Whenever you want me at all
I'll be here yes I will
Whenever you call
You just gotta call on me, yeah
You just gotta call on me, oh
You just gotta call on me
Mmmmmmmmmm

music, personal, movies, the beatles
