Of course I'm going to start with the most insignificant of musings! I went grocery shopping yesterday and stumbled upon combos...in a regular grocery store...not a convenience one. Thrilled, ecstatic, jubilant - I was all three and more. So, I picked up a bag of the pizzeria ones. Yum...
They shall be my downfall, though. I can't seem to keep out of the bag. It started in the car yesterday on the way to my aunt and uncle's. Decided to have some to hold me over until dinner seeing as I was already a little hungry and all. Really, though, I did buy some 'good' food! Spinach and other salad items, organic granola (they didn't have the kind I usually get) and carb smart yogurt (also didn't have the kind of yogurt I usually buy), egg substitutes and a lot of other health-conscious things. The Combos, though, they'll probably be gone by the end of the day. *sigh*
Just to break things up some, here's one of the meme's that's making the rounds:

But back to life.
Tennis never happened on Saturday morning. :( It rained most of the day. I ended up having an hour and a half long conversation with my good college friend Rachel, though. And then later in the afternoon/early evening my brother called and we talked for just as long, perhaps a bit longer. :) I made this really good chicken, which basically only required a lot of Italian style seasonings almost completely covering the chicken. Baked it in a covered dish with some olive oil thrown in for moisture/taste/whatever. My, it was nice an tender and oh so delicious!
Sunday brought grocery shopping, but the highlight was going up to my aunt and uncle's new house. They've been living/sleeping there for a week now. My mom and dad have been up various days and evenings to help in making the place 'home' by means of paint, decoration, and the occasional new medicine cabinet in a bathroom. The face lift has worked wonders. Before the house just made you feel like you'd stepped back in time 30 years. Now, it's still got a homey atmosphere, but it feels settled and a bit more up-to-date.
We dyed eggs, too. This year my partner was Seth:
I still can't decide if that's my hair or just a shadow that looks like it's sticking out the side of my head. Hmmm... Oh, and the paper in my hand was a drawing Sophia did for me in Sunday School. :) What a sweetie!
I think we ended up with more cracked eggs than not. We also had almost as many of a pink variety than the other colors combined. This was, in part, due to the fact that the purple dye sort of lost its blue-ness when eggs dried. Still had some neat looking ones in the group. We always use oil to make the eggs 'speckled' in appearance and might use two, sometimes three, colors per egg.
It was surprising to me that Dylan remembered he stuck his hand in red dye last year. Lots of 'we caught you red-handed' jokes were made afterward. This year, there were only a few purple/blue fingers in the bunch. ;) Sophia remembered that she and I were partners last year. :D
Hmm...I think that's it for now. Oh yeah! Though I haven't replied to any (yet), I have read all your replies as of Saturday morning for last Friday's post. :) I've been going through the flist all morning trying to catch up on the happenings in all of your lives instead. Happy Monday, all!
