a complaint complaint

the color burn of a monitor left obnoxious squares in my line of vision
and the bottom falls out and i can't find my chair anymore even though my ass is firmly planted in it
so you get vertigo and decide to smoke a cigarette, eat falafel, drink a bottle of wine and smoke more cigarettes, but the only advice anyone has to muster is take a multi vitamin and keep your head down.
so mcdonalds is screaming at you from a sheet of paper, and damned if you bite the hand that feeds, and science reveals that porn, whores and teenagers fucking is okay if done right - but isn't anything okay if done "right"?
meanwhile, you still have this uncanny ability to produce a pen out of thin air - and this is 24/7 - while you're a professional when it comes to qwerty. you subscribe to august dvorak's newsletter and when someone asks what you think, you tell them "it's a great big world". but of course, they're painting a picture and want your opinion.
and about that painting, is that your big idea? you're commissioned for an underwater painting of sea shells and your personal touch is a shark?
at my first job, there was an old man rumored to tip for emptying his ash tray.
cigarette extinguishing in his mouth and a fresh one in hand, he offers you this tip: stay away from sharks.
so you dive into the Girl Pool - and not the sea with "plenty more fish" - and it's faceless moneygrubbers recalling the moments of their day, expounding upon the ways to capitalize on their neighbor, and the devout muslim curses himself for not being able to answer who he is, where he comes from and where he's going.
isn't there someone you're thinking of? the person that you have this persistent feeling about that will, without a doubt, make everything okay? or is that person just a thing? is it an object, a mystical gem, an elixir, a tool to fix anything?
there are many broken things here.
meanwhile, you do all this listening and mostly you tell people it's okay even though you're disgusted with your surroundings. people hear without listening. people talk without speaking.
it's easy to complain, but just as easy to change.
so, what do you tell the mass of people who aren't listening?
