A busy month (work went insane), so not as much reading done as I usually do.
101.
I Capture the Castle, Dodie Smith. Awfully good fun, I did enjoy this classic growing-up story.
102.
The Book of Illusions, Paul Auster. Books within books, puzzles within puzzles. Your typical surreal Auster.
103. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Junot Diaz. Won the Pulitzer, got raves in the local press (he was out for the Sydney Writers' Festival, so maybe they were in awe of having him here), but it didn't completely gel for me. An interesting literary book, with trashy sci-fi references. (I'm probably the target audience for this one too!) And I learnt about the Dominican Republic. But it wasn't quite what I was expecting, I wasn't completely suckered in...
104.
Go Ask Alice, Anonymous. This might get my vote for Worst Book I Read In 2008.
105.
The Time We Have Taken, Steven Carroll. Won the Miles Franklin Award, but rather plotless. Beautifully written, but nothing much ever happened.
106. Prince Caspian, C.S. Lewis. (Read to Mr Bear.) The least of the series, but at least I have an excuse to buy the movie on DVD so Mr Bear & I can watch it together. :)
107.
O is for Outlaw, Sue Grafton. Another great Kinsey mystery!
