Finally, a sunny day in Sydney...

Jun 07, 2008 19:47

It's been raining, raining, raining for a week, and was forecast to rain, rain, rain for another week. And then, the weather guys got it wrong, and we had a sunny day today! (It won't last, I'm sure.)

So, I did three loads of washing, wrangled the kids out of the house, and we had a picnic in the park (along with millions of other families with young kids in the inner west, it seems). I did catch up with some old friends while pushing small children on the swings, and we'd also taken my old kite (Mr Bear saw an episode of "The Upside-Down Show" where they had a picnic and flew a kite, so it was his inspiration) and many small kids in the park were gobsmacked by it. (Although the Best Toy Award did go to the Dad who had one of those balloons that you blow up and then let loose to zoom around as the air comes out... I think half the fun was climbing the trees to get the deflated balloon out of them.)

And I fluked a photo on my dinky little camera in my phone. I couldn't see a thing because I was looking into the sun, and I just shrugged and took it anyhow, and it turned out halfway decent.
