Kind of.

I won't have to officially make this decision for years, but I've been contemplating lately whether or not I should eventually get a PhD. I'm going to get a Master's in Speech Pathology, since in Speech Path, you can't just go from Bachelor's to PhD- you need to get your Master's first (since that's the clinical degree).

I kind of want to make something of myself, do research, and hopefully be respected in my field. I've always wanted to be respected for my mind. But also, I kinda wonder if part of the reason I want this so much is to make up for my predicted lack in the rest of my life. I worry that I won't ever have a good relationship and have a family, so what do I have if not my career? Also, while this isn't going to really deter me from getting a PhD, if I do get this degree, I would have 4 advanced degrees, which is really obnoxious.

Honestly, if it were me, I wouldn't think it was any of their business if they weren't close friends. It took me an extra year to finish school and I didn't tell anyone who wasn't a close friend. I just let everyone think I graduated early, since I technically wasn't enrolled in classes, but I had incompletes I hadn't finished yet.
