I don't think I've ever read a textbook but I'd be nervous I would need it for something if I didn't have it.

I really wish more people were aware of this. In college I was always amazed by how many people just went out and spent $300 or whatever buying every textbook their professors told them to. I didn't buy anything unless I actually needed it. Saved a ton of money that way, I'm sure.
