i've been in recording studios a lot lately. I used to be scared of the studio, but now I kinda like it. The mothra vocals are coming out pretty freakin' hot, if I don't say so myself. I arranged one song in a totally shred-tastic manner and I'm highly pleased with it (it looks like I'll be playing a show with Mothra on New Years Eve at BJ's recording studio in Lansdowne with Baroness and Unpersons, which will be SWEET...but then I'll have to rush to the Slaytallica show!). Hissy Fit tracking went really well the other day and I've been listening to what we have so far a lot and liking it. The split 7" should be out sometime and we're going to have a sweet record release show with a limited edition run of rekkids with even more special packaging than the fancy shit we have planned for the regular release and some other surprises. And hopefully some friends bands.... (here's looking at you, buffalo!).
I really want to play difficult guitar stuff in a band again, too. I was listening to the last GCO stuff and remembered that. Something about immersing yourself in playing a guitar is real good. Playing stuff you can hardly play anyway, but playing it under pressure. yeah. iz good.

The broke kitty benefit show is shaping up, I think. I still need bands, though. She will get her shots!

Tonight, after I finish procrastinating and decide to go home, I will bake german anise biscuits, listen to the beastie boys, chumbawamba, nuclear assault, billy bragg, and entombed and read the new issue of Tape Op, the issue of Modern Drunkard that Yoni brought home, and start a new book, since I just finished Jitterbug Perfume. I will be fully finished my chemistry class within a week or so. Hmm. I seriously can't get myself to do the work.

I really want to read all the classics in the poetry realm. I know I want to read Yeats and Whitman, at least. Hrm. Poetry annoys the hell out of me, but I assume there is something there. I give it another chance!

Our house is all holiday decorated. Josh went christmas crazy and got all kinds of lights and tinsel and stuff. We got a tree, which I do like doing, and then MaryBeth,Mitchell,Alline and I strapped this big cock christmas ornament from last year to the goofy santa claus thing josh hung on the wall. Now he's really 'hung'. har. har. har. However, it is all leading up to......
THE 2ND ANNUAL BABY JESUS PARTY
(and birthday celebration for John Dukes!)
this will take place on December 17th at the downward spiral, 328 N. 42nd St. You are all welcome; just bring a DIY holiday ornament to hang on our tree. There will of course be another baby jesus volcano...if you weren't around last year, you gotta be there this year to check this shit out! This one will be even more intense! Expect some sweet metal at 2 minutes to midnite and don't even think about stopping the party before the party the next day at Erik's house starts!

Speaking of parties and happenings!
THIS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 10TH.
CODE Space (48th and Woodland)
7 pm or so, I think.
Erik Petersen
Grim Aria
Hissy Fit
First Philly screening of the documentary about the Gilman St. venue in Berkeley, CA.
This show is a benefit for Greg Harvester...lj's own harvestron.

THIS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 11th!
After WitchHunt and other bands play at the Catbox, there will be a mass exodus to THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL for a party in celebration of the life of Ted King-Smith! Yeehaw, Ted will be back in town and we're gonna show him a good time!

THIS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 12th!
I will have one hell of a hangover! I might even puke! Stay tuned for more gory details!

Speaking of puking, I have a weak stomach and Jack, one of the downward spiral kitties, has an internal combustion engine for a gastrointestinal tract that produces the stinkiest (and largest...just ask prideorblood) poops ever! While changing his litter today, I puked three times! Yeehaw!

I have been moderately obsessive about drinking tea lately. With soymilk and sugar. Earl Grey and Celestial Seasonings' Morning Thunder in particular. I have found that I actually do like tea, and it makes it even more fun when I drink one or two cups of coffee one day a week. And less coffee is probably good for me, even though I don't want to admit it. Me and my ulcer are such good buddies.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
xo,

ps. did you ever notice how the guy from SSD's vocals sometimes sound like Nick Blinko's vocals in Rudi Peni? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
