So today I had a fight with my roommate.
About what you ask?
The one and only topic that can get me into a heated debate. The disengagement? Absolutely not. Politics in general? Please... i dont know my ass from my elbow when it comes to that... It was obviously about Harry Potter.
We walked into our TV room and they were watching the end of the third movie, and my "rebel" of a roommate goes, "oh, I hate Harry Potter, I'm so against it." BOOM, first blow. That is the one sentence I dispise MOST. It heats up my bones... the only thing that might be worse is "lets just be friends". Anyway, I attempted to muffle my booming voice and demanded why exactly she is "against" the dear harry potter, who I am so in love with. "It is brainwashing". Oh? Is it really? Which book in particular gave premise to this assumption? "I didn't read any of them." Oh???
THEN WHAT THE FUCK... that is when she truly unleashed the beast. I basiaclly set off on her about how she is ridiculous and I refuse to have this argument with her because she has no right to speak if she hasn't read the book. She said that because so many people like it, it's obviously brainwashing. Because that is OBVIOUSLY a valid (and sound) argument. "What other book have so many people liked... children and adults alike?" she asked triumphantly, as if making a convincing argument. THATS WHAT MAKES THE BOOK AMAZING!! THE FACT THAT SO MANY PEOPLE LIKE IT!!!!!!!!! Oh man... I let her know how absurd she was being, and that I was disappointed in her terrible argument, and that I would like to switch roommates. I was semi-kidding about the last part, but I was still infuriated.
Later, someone brought over "Love actually" so we can watch it (we literally have NOTHING to do), so she excitedly states, "OH, I LOVE LOVE ACTUALLY!!... you haven't seen it? (she asks the girl next to her)... well, it's the greatest movie ever. Everyone likes it!"
I innocently retorted, "so it's brainwashing then, no?"
