Dick Scobee was born and raised in WA state before he joined the Air Force.
North Auburn Elementary School was re-named Dick Scobee Elementary in his honor. Auburn Municipal Airport was also renamed Dick Scobee Field This is in Auburn, Washington, where Dick graduated from high school at.
I wouldn't just do this for Dick, if I can't do this without doing it for the rest. I connected with Dick, because he is from WA.
As a kid, every time a rocket launched, I was up to watch it. I thought it would have been so kewl to be an astronaut. This is from the person who is afraid of heights. I have problem standing on a chair. Try strapping a rocket under my ass and see what I would do. LOL!
It didn't stop me from wishing. LOL!
I have a cousin that is/was in the program. I always that was the coolest thing(but if you knew how strange my family is).
