Additional Draft Thoughts

Summary of recommended number players to take at each position:
  • QBs: 2 and only 2
  • TEs: 1 or 2
  • Ks:   1 and only 1
  • DEF: 1 or 2
  • RBs: 5 or 6
  • WRs: 4-6

Also, another thing to think about doing in rounds 11-15 is handcuffing your #1 RB.

The ADP chart sort of says the same thing, but here is a list of the typical non-RB/WR players you would draft in the first 9 rounds, and approximate where:

Antonio Gates, TE: 3rd or 4th round
The next 5 or 6 TEs: rounds 6-8

Peyton Manning: end of 1st, or 2nd
Carson Palmer: 2nd or early 3rd
Brees, Brady, Bulger, McNabb: middle 3rd - 5th

Chicago or Baltimore DEF: a lot of argument here, many people insist you should not take a DEF until round 9 or later, but inevitably you will see them go in rounds 5-7.

And finally, if you don't plan on editing your player cheatsheet, and you are only doing a draft at MDC, you don't really need a cheatsheet, it should be sufficient to just use the MDC applet to show you the 5 or 6 highest rated players left at a given position.

If you plan on only editing the player rankings slightly, you could also just do that with MDC's player rankings editor. Then make sure you select those rankings for your draft.

If you do plan to use the cheatsheet, you could save a copy of it, open it in Excel during your draft, and just delete the rows as players are selected. That might be easier than marking guys off with a pen, I don't know.
