Well, today was my last day of work at Home Depot and it went pretty much like any other day except for a few small differences. I didn't punch out for my lunch break (I thought it was a nice going-away present), I found ten dollars in the parking lot (another nice present), an associate tried to convert me to Jehovah's Witness (I don't think this was a present, really) and they let me go an hour and a half early (a wonderful present).
During work all day today people kept telling me how much they were going to miss me after I was gone. It was nice in a way to know that people actually cared about me, which was much different than working at Highland House, where they didn't even know that it was my last day, nor did they care. The head cashiers also told me that I was the best lot associate they had at the store, and now that I'm done, I can safely say that I agree with them. I mean that in the least egotistical, self-centered way possible. It's not that I was really really good at my job, it's just that I actually did my job. It just seemed that I was the only one who actually put any effort into it, you know?
In retrospect, I really enjoyed my work experience at Home Depot, and a lot of it had to do with the people I worked with. Everyone was very friendly and no one ever yelled at anyone. It was a welcome change from the nightmarish tempers at Highland House. I also met some cool people my age, too, so that helped me enjoy working there. It was also nice to see that people actually appreciated the job I was doing, and that my hard work did not go unnoticed.
I also took my apron home with me, as proof that I actually worked there.
That's all for now.
