Thoughts for Monday

 School:

I registered for Fall and got a pretty kickass schedule--mostly morning/afternoon classes on Mon, Tues and Thurs. I signed up for 3-D modeling, Elements of Storytelling, Speech (bleh!), Art History (this is essential as my knowledge doesn't extend very far beyond the Big 4 who happen to have ninja turtles named after them), and Figure Drawing.

My only class today was English and it was actually more enjoyable than it has been the past weeks because we broke off into groups and discussed each other's papers. My group was cool enough. The Culinary girl needed to realize that she's not a master of correct sentence structure and Industrial Design dude should have been told that purposely misspelling words in English assignments isn't the best form of artistic expression, but all in all, our discussions were fun. Bullshitting with people always makes time fly. I'd have to say the best part of class though was the 20 minute free-writing time because I got 2 more pages done toward my next chapter of Cybertronian Nights. Woot, go me!

On the way to school, I popped into the comic shop and nabbed the latest issue of IDW's G1 series, which I read on the way home from school. As usual, there were really cool elements and some not-so-cool things. Cool: The art, of course. Guido is a badass. The Combaticons are so sexy, even though they all have the same face (which is Hasbro's design flaw, not Guido's). As for story/dialogue, the only bit that made me squee was the last two pages, and mainly because I didn't expect  (warning: spoiler) a full-page drool-worthy plot twister involving a gorgeously-drawn TC. Not-so-cool: Spike. WTF Mike Costa?? Could ya get more fanboyish with him? He's like goddamned can-do-no-wrong Mary Sue. Don't get me started on the last issue (possible the one before) where Spike took on a Constructicon all by his lonesome and won, conveniently losing his shirt in the process so all his manly muscles could bulge out...really, Costa, REALLY?

And, speaking of half-naked people, I saw Lady Gaga in concert over the weekend, and I gotta say, the bitch can put on a show! (and so can a fuck ton of money) The sets were fabulous, the costumes were fabulous (both on the dancers and the fans) and Gaga herself was badass. My favorite part of the show was when she took things down a notch and pounded out a couple ballads on the piano. That was where her talent as a singer and musician could really show through, and she did it all while wearing a studded bikini and stiletto boots! She played a slowed-down version of Speechless and a "rock n'roll" song she wrote recently called You and I,, which is now on my personal weekly top 10. (could have something to do with the fact that "muscle car" is in the lyrics) =P

Have some Gaga:
