So Thursday morning we woke up to rain, since it had been raining since Wednesday night. The problem was that during the day it was supposed to drop to below freezing and continue with freezing rain or sleet. I was not happy about possibly driving home on 1/4" of ice. And I was like, "if the weather is bad I'll call in sick" but stupid me, I went anyways. As the day went on, more and more schools were closing or ending early, or whatever, and finally we established that Brentwood was cancelling after school activities. And Barb was like, cool, let's cancel 3rd session. So we all went home about 1:30pm. And then I sat in my cozy room and watched TV and took a nap. And then at 7:30 Caroline called me to say that school was cancelled for Friday.
Friday Patrick had said that since he was off school too we should go to the CSC for mass and soup and then hang around until happy hour, so we did that, but when we got there Jenn was there and she was all, I don't have power, can I go to your house and bake my stuff for happy hour? So we ended up at Patrick's house, but that wasn't that bad. He was all annoyed because Greg was supposed to go on one of his pointless out of town trips but of course it got cancelled because of the storm so he was around, and Patrick had already planned all this stuff, and of course Greg was a dumbass about it and made him late for everything. (Kim, it IS one of life's great mysteries). End result: I got Patrick to drive me around so I didn't have to dig my car out until Saturday, when it took me 20 minutes but it was warm enough that I could get all the snow and ice off.
Sunday we had the first mass at our new church which was sweet, and then we had lunch and I graded, and Patrick had driven so I was going to hang out with him until he went back to the CSC, and that was fun of course but then I missed Amazing Race. The ONE week it's on time!! Oh well.
It was 14 degrees when I left for school this morning, and my car was making that high-pitched squealing noise (I've heard it out of other cars, if you heard it you would be like, "Oh yeah! That noise!"). My car hates the cold. But it doesn't make noise when it's not cold, so maybe that's just how it is. I think on Wednesday maybe I'll take it in. I'd take it to the Midas near work but I already told them about the noise and they decided the belt needed replacing. Which didn't help. Good news about today is that there are 8 kids here out of 21.
