New Year - New Kitty!!!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
I finally have something LiveJournal worthy to post about! Though, I really should start posting for no good reason at all anyway. That will be New Year's Resolution #3, right behind #2 - Use Netflix more often, and #1 - Floss.
Meet my newest baby.
Her name is Asha. She's a four year old Calico with a Tortie attitude! My good friends, Fred and Mel, used to live in Chicago but moved to LA last March. They have been fostering cats through a shelter out there since they moved. They found out I was casually in the market for another cat and made arrangements, though Pete, to fly their current foster kitty ACROSS THE COUNTRY and drop her off to me on Christmas Eve! It was supposed to be a big surprise, but Petey is terrible about keeping secrets. I was able to wrangle the information out of him a couple of weeks before Asha arrived.
She and Dobby have been getting along as well as can be expected for two new cats getting to know each other. No huge cat fights, minimal hissing and spitting. They aren't great friends, but they will get there. I kept them apart for one day before letting them say hello. I was worried the entire time up to the meeting that it would be Dobby who would be the pissy, territorial one, but true to life, it's actually Asha the Alpha. Dobby is totally fine with the new kitty, except for the fact that he doesn't understand why this bitch keeps hissing at him every time he walks by her. I'm not worried about it though. I predict a kitty pile on the bed by the end of the month!

This was taken on New Years Eve, two days after they met each other:
What's this? TWO kitties on the SAME couch? It can't be!
This is as close as they have gotten so far (that has been documented anyway). This was taken on New Year's Day night. Notice that Asha is right smack-dab in the middle of my coat. Because I am her mama now. Because she said so.
You are all welcome to come over and meet the new kitty - and the old one too if you haven't been over to our place yet! Come on, ya know ya wanna. How could you say no to this face?
