Most gothic metal as we know it today is pure shite, and thus only listened to by angsty teenagers and adults who want to gain a sense of lost individualism that they had when they were an angsty teenager.
The gothic label is pure bullshit, and the let say 90% of the music that they call Goth rock and Goth Metal go in to that same line of bullshit, and in my years of living with metal, well I've heard lots of shitty gothic music.
And never before would I have said I heard good gothic rock/metal, because I hadn't, it just never had happened, it seemed like an impossibility.
That is untill I randomly picked up a CD called 'Lacrimosa Elodla' ... Holy shit that is good music.
I mean not only is it good music, but it has aspects of Rock, Metal and Classical music to it that I can't help but love.
While clearly from what I've seen they are a gothic band, and goths being shitty, they must suck, but once you start to listen to the music, it's just bloody good.
And I mean I've heard CD after CD of bad gothic music, and finally I found something I actually like.
