There is no "i" in supercalifr . . . australopith . . . uh, cheese. There's no "i" in cheese.

And now, a list of the games I have played, or at least acquired this year. So far. Steam sales, y'know.

Steam

BioShock, dark 60's themed shooter. Broken Age, past and future united point 'n click adventure. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, fighting back the alien hordes in 3rd person shooter. The Dead Linger, buggy beta zombie multiplayer with some potential, if it lives up to its concepts. Divinity: Original Sin, 10% tactical, 90% RPG, standard story, good gameplay. Kairo, mysterious 1st person puzzle explorer, what they're calling a "walking simulator." Kingdom Rush, tower defense cartoon. Knights of Pen and Paper +1, 1988 graphics supported by modern retro RPG love. The Last Door, Lovecraft's favorite point 'n click. Marvel Heroes 2015, which I played more in 2013, but I really want the 100 days logged in pet, so I try to hop in every day. RIFT, the MMO I barely touched, but it looked a lot like a prettier WoW. Space Run, tower defense on the run on a moving space ship. The Stanley Parable, super weird 1st person . . . confusing tale. The Talos Principle Public Test, 1st person puzzle with a slight fantasy theme, maybe. War for the Overworld Bedrock Beta, Dungeon Keeper revisited. The Book of Unwritten Tales, point 'n click with a comic fantasy feel. Borderlands 2, the borderlandiest 1st person shooter ever. Desktop Dungeons, a . . . um . . . something. I got stuck cause I need to go to new areas, but they cost money, and in order to get any money I need to go to new areas. Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara, greatest coin-op arcade game of the Golden Axe era. Fallout: New Vegas, 1st/3rd person shooter of the apocalypse. Nightmares from the Deep: The Siren's Call, hidden object game. Project Zomboid, zombie survival hell. The Room, puzzle extraordinaire. Not PUZZLE game or PUZZLER. Just one long puzzle. Saints Row IV, in which the president battles aliens with a giant purple dildo. Seriously. Unturned, Minecraft meets zombies.

Whew. And I'm not even close to being one of those "buy anything on sale" steam players.

3DS

Fire Emblem Awakening, tactical RPG with feeling. And mating! Bravely Default, archaic JRPG with modern gameplay. And super killer music. And the best job/class system I can think of. Fantasy Life, as I've said before, and I can't possibly think of a better way of putting it, Animal Crossing with sorcerers. Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, on tap and ready to play.

PS Vita

Dragon's Crown, stylish side scrolling . . . did I already use the Golden Axe analogy? Final Fantasy IX is Final Fantasy IX. Wild ARMs, one time JRPG competitor to Final Fantasy 7. It lost. But that doesn't mean it was bad! Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, a one time contender for my personal best game ever. The position's probably been taken by Mass Effect or Persona 4G since. A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks!, PSN mini top scrolling shooter. Final Fantasy X HD, full PS2 game, now on a tiny mem-chip. Final Fantasy X-2 HD, on tap. Final Fantasy V, on tap. Final Fantasy VI, on tap Final Fantasy Origins, on tap Suikoden II, on tap Danganronpa, on tap.

Game of the year: Divinity Original Sin, Fallout New Vegas, and Bravely Default are the contenders. I think I'll disqualify Fallout: New Vegas on the grounds that it's actually a few years old, I just PLAYED it this year. Hmm. And having not reached an easy conclusion between Divinity: Original Sin and Bravely Default, I hereby declare a dual favorite game for the year. Merry Merry!
