One of the interesting upsides to taking care of an invalid is cutting up tennis balls.
I have this knife I got at a Renaissance Faire. It's a really cool hunting knife with a full tang, flushed rivets, just a touch of wood grain in the handle, and a hint of a signature visible on the backside. Naturally, I got it so that people trying to pry open my window lose a finger.
But the only use I have for it is cutting open tennis balls to put them on the feet of the walker. Then I get to stab things, and pull really hard to slash them open. It's tiring and pretty hard to do, but I like using it and I don't entirely hate explaining to different people that I got the knife because normal kitchen knives just won't do.
I just need to avoid mentioning to them that I got the thing in about 2003, and the stroke was in 2010. That's all.
One of the interesting downsides to taking care of an invalid is that the inside of a tennis ball smells like dead fish.
