out of goodbyes, let's start the new one
It was the day when they last filmed for We Got Married, rain fell heavily on spring; It was more than a year, 366 days since they got to be together as a couple-fake couple, it was supposed to be the point where they felt almost free from anything they called as pressure-but it didn’t.
Maybe they felt like everything had happened that way, at first maybe they were fake-but nobody really knows what heart tells. And heart always tells the truth.
“It’s the last filming,” Yonghwa murmured, sipping his hot cappucino solemnly, eyes tried to hide from another’s. Juhyun just nodded, hands kept making tick-tack sounds from the cup of hot chocolate she had just sipped by her pretty-pastel-colored nails. “I never thought we could really start and end this far... 51 episodes aren’t small numbers, anyway.”
Yonghwa lifted his head, and in seconds his face made its’ way to create a simple curve line, impressed.
“Juhyun-ah, your words make me remember about our first meeting. You must have thought that I’m not a manly guy; not your typical. Wasn’t it?” He chuckled softly, too softly because Juhyun probably didn’t hear that, “That day, I thought we could be surrounded with awkwardness forever, that we could possibly end our story in just...under ten episodes.”
Juhyun didn’t give any reactions other than her charming smile-forever, she was thinking whether it was really the end between them.
“You’re not the guy I think I’d meet, because before this I only saw you beyond the stages with bright lights, playing guitar while showing off your manly sides...”she started, then she turned his head to the right, to the window where she could easily see the teardrops falling from the sky, “but first impression never really works out, at least for me.”
Yonghwa slightly giggled (and we usually called it Choding-Yonghwa) and he didn’t know why his heart felt so warm and there was something like-call it whispers, coming from his deepest heart, telling him it’s not over-it won’t over.
And he didn’t even know why, he didn’t even know it happened, because his hand just made their way, grabbing Juhyun’s hands, offering comfort-and love. “Do you want to take a stroll around Sam Do Dong before the last part of filming starts?” he asked, but the hell, what kind of question he asked because he didn’t really wait for the answer and just took her with him.
“It’s raining heavily outside, oppa.”
Juhyun said, which was quickly answered by Yonghwa, “I know. The right time to talk heart to heart, isn’t it?” And Juhyun just had to swallow her words after Yonghwa holded her hands and put it in his coat’s pocket.
They walked around like they never did. Rain didn’t want to lose and kept falling so hard from the sky, but they were so busy to give a damn, strolling under an umbrella seemed foolish, but it promised some kind of warmth and comfort they had never got before. So now, rain didn’t matter. At all.
Juhyun started the conversation without looking at the other’s eyes, “You haven’t asnwered my question since our first filming, can I get the answer now? We might not have time later.” It sounded more like she was demanding, it was full of needs and wants inside.
“What question? I guess I have so many debts since we first filmed. You were so pure back then, I feel like spreading dirts on you.” Yonghwa clumsily answered while in fact he apparently knew what he should’ve answered about.
Juhyun sighed once in nervousness, “About that, the differences between liking and loving someone.”
Yonghwa nodded, he took a glance for awhile, making sure Juhyun was listening.
But instead of answers, what Juhyun had to get was a short question coming from the boy’s lips, something truly simple, “Why do you want to know?”
She didn’t answer, not because she didn’t want to, but because she herself felt confused about the question. She could feel his heart frantically beat in a ticklish harmony.
“It’s right, you don’t have to think because you’ll find the answer later.” Yonghwa pliantly said, the smile hadn’t moved an inch from its’ place; and it looked beautiful.
“The difference is that, when you like someone there’s no wish for you to accept the equal feelings. But when you love someone, deep inside, your distant heart pleads to have the same feelings coming from the one you love. Even if it’s really small and you don’t realize it.”
Out of Yonghwa’s expectations, Juhyun didn’t look shocked at all. Instead, she looked like she was wondering something-something Yonghwa didn’t know.
“What’s that, Seohyun-ah. You really look like investigating whether my words are sincere or not.” Yonghwa threw a small choding action again to warm up the almost-frozen situation.
Juhyun frequently nodded by herself, uncertained and understood in between. Thoughts flying somewhere around the night sky, hiding beneath the sparkling stardust.
“Oppa,” Juhyun took a glance, brown crescent eyes focused to another’s, “What will happen after this...?” She asked, slowly, almost in whisper-a way in confusion whether Yonghwa should hear or not.
Mr. Jung lifted his head to the sky, covering his almost celestial smile not to blind Juhyun, “I don’t know. Acquaintance? Friend? Partner? I never really know.” He explained, finger twirling here and there avoiding nervousness. Out of his courtesy, Juhyun’s eyes went anxious, scared likely to lose each other.
“So that’s it...” she replied nonchalantly in face but heart almost exploded in concerns. Yonghwa tilted his head to a side facing Juhyun, “Why does your words sound insincere like that, Juhyun-ah...” He threw a stunning grin while talking, shaking her hand on his pocket.
Juhyun didn’t reply him, she could only feel the warmth coming along with her hand from the boy beside her-she couldn’t help the heat anymore. Her face went reddened, lips were completely locked and words were gone somewhere unseen.
She didn’t realize her lips made its’ own way to speak, “I’m found out.”
A long sigh escaped Yonghwa’s lungs, chest went up and down trying hard to calm himself down before saying, “I’m wondering about your first love right now, Hyun.” And Juhyun unsteadily felt insecure to respond. “Actually you’re the first guy telling me about love, so if you ask about my first love, it’s no one but perhaps you yourself.”
Yonghwa stopped his steps for awhile, recovering himself from words Juhyun had just said. Instead of saying cheesy words like he always did to other girls he had dated, he didn’t know what to do, mind went blank and for a sudden he thought he had been literally trapped.
“I’m still confused, though.” Juhyun added, eyes looking somewhere aside Yonghwa’s so their gaze didn’t meet, “Shinhye unnie’s so beautiful and I think she fits-”
As he heard Shinhye being spoken he couldn’t help making movement next to Seohyun; lips met lips and right, Seohyun went crying, she breathelessly sobbed as Yonghwa kept pushing his lips on hers, hands locking her movement by a warming hug-umbrella fell down to the ground and rain started to make them feel cold.
As their lips went apart, Yonghwa couldn’t help to whisper, “I’m sorry, I can’t control myself.”
Juhyun shook her head, “I don’t mind it.” Palm wiped the edge of her eyes and now it looked so swollen after crying so much, “You sure brought me to my final words,”
“You’re sure my first love. After 20 years, I finally feel how ticklish it is having butterfly lingering on your stomach just when seeing you smile, how worry it is seeing you sick-and how precious it was......my first kiss.”
The two remained silent, sinking into the deep thoughts. Rain had stopped falling down a little while ago and Juhyun’s long hair looked really wet, raindrops falling down from every tip hair she had.
“I’m so sorry,” Yonghwa stopped, voice hoarse and eyes couldn’t face Juhyun’s.
Juhyun looked all confused, her eyes had been closed minutes ago, trying hard to not cry anymore.
So this is all a joke, she thought, he can’t ever fall for me, she added herself, clenched her palm giving strength to herself.
As she tried to open her eyes, something blocked her vision and it all went black in seconds; Yonghwa locked her in his chest with a warming hug once more-so tight like he’d never let go.
“I’m so sorry I make you fall for me.” He murmured while rubbing Juhyun’s hair. Somewhere amongst so many galaxies, Vega blinked once and it splattered a pure bliss for both two.
“I love you. Let’s end this fake-marriage and get a real one.”
Juhyun nodded in no time and out of their courtesy, there was something coming up in the high sky greeting their happiness, a rainbow.
