It's been a hell of a week. I had a pretty awesome time in Washington. Christmas actually feels special when you don't get to see your family every day.
My flight ended up being delayed a little over 3 hours, so I ended up staying in the airport for 6 hours. One of my coworkers happened to be catching a flight at the same time in the same terminal (how crazy is that?), so we met up at the airport bar and got our drink on for a couple of hours.
After he left, my plane was delayed another hour and I went to lay down and read Neil Gaiman. I laid in the same spot with uncomfortably cramping legs for 3 hours. The terminal was packed with people covered in blankets and other assorted wayward travelers.
The flight finally boarded at 1:45 a.m., and touched down around 3:00. I'd been awake since 4:40 the previous morning, so I almost went all Dawn of the Dead on some of the motherfuckers in baggage claim.
When I finally escaped from the stuffy, fluorescent-lit clutches of Sea-Tac airport I realized there was pretty snow all over the place. It was rad until I had to walk through the unplowed, icy driveway of my sister's apartment complex. I almost bit it a couple of times, but made it inside whole to sleep the sleep of the dead.
Everyone seemed stoked about their presents, especially Brian. He went clownshit crazy over his Snuggie (who wouldn't?).
As always, it ended too soon and I had to return to the quaintly squalid streets of Oakland.
