What form will your character's NV take?
A laptop. Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Dahlia is an excellent manipulator, primarily of men. She's been manipulating the people around her into helping her with her illegal dirty work since at least the age of fourteen, from her much older boyfriend Terry Fawles to her own sister Iris.
Based on the fact her preferred method of murder is poison, it can be assumed she has an above average knowledge of them. She created the poison that was meant to kill Phoenix Wright herself. It was virtually untraceable and lethal in a very small amount so she's clearly well-versed in deadly toxins.
She's also a very adept actress. For years she's conviced people she was the picture of innocence and sweetness until Mia Fey shattered the illusion in Phoenix Wright's trial.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? Poison touch. Dahlia's preferred method of murder is poison so it would make sense that her dormant ability would be something associated with it. Once her powers activate the poison will start off weak. When someone touches her bare skin they'll feel a slight headache and mild nausea which will pass in a few minutes. Over time the potency will get progressively stronger until even just a light kiss or touch will lead to a very painful death within a few hours. It would only work through skin-on-skin contact and be useless against those with poison immunity. The strength of the poison will be uncontrolled at first, while still in it's weaker stages. As it gets more potent Dahlia will gain some moderate control over it, being able to control the potency but not stop it completely.
Weapons: None.

Character Personality: At first glance Dahlia Hawthorne seems like the perfect girl: beautiful, soft-spoken, polite and delicate. The kind of girl men want to bring home to their mothers and women want to keep their boyfriends far away from.
When she speaks she seems shy and unsure of herself, frequently apologizing when she feels she's done the tiniest thing wrong. When feeling threatened her eyes fill with tears and she looks to the nearest male authority figure for help. This meek behavior triggers a protective instinct in men, as seen during the first case of "Trials and Tribulations". The judge and Winston Payne are utterly smitten with her charms within less than a minute of Dahlia being on the stand, so much so that they even become verbally hostile toward defense attorney Mia Fey when she cross-examines Dahlia.
However this innocence is a facade, more than likely based on her soft-spoken twin sister Iris. Dahlia knew her innocent looks and beauty masked her true personality perfectly and she has used this to her advantage throughout her life. The true Dahlia Hawthorne is a very calm, cold woman with as sharp a tongue and hot a temper as the stereotype of her red hair suggests. She even talks about her execution with a somewhat cold indifference, bitterly describing her hanging as "unpleasant".
That's not to say that she's always cold, calm and in control. When backed into a corner she becomes
frazzled and
snappy. If angered she can easily be characterized as
demonic. Phoenix Wright and Mia Fey go so far as to describe her as "evil" but Iris contests this somewhat. She says that Dahlia was strong and smart and never once complaining about their mother's abandonment or how their father neglected her. She felt sorry for Dahlia because she didn't have someone to really care for her like Iris had with a nun named Sister Bikini.
Dahlia is first and foremost a master manipulator. Nearly all the relationships in her life are shallow, based entirely on misdirection and Dahlia using the people in her life to achieve her own goals until they're no longer useful. After that they're likely to end up dead or in prison, such as with her stepsister Valerie Hawthorne and her ex-boyfriends Doug Swallow and Terry Fawles. She's also a quick thinker (pretending to be Valerie when meeting Terry on Dusky Bridge, giving the necklace she hid poison in to kill both Terry Fawles and Diego Armando) but ultimately her plans fail in the long run, namely do to her estranged cousin Mia Fey.
For all the crimes she's committed (grand larceny, attempted murder, murder and persuading Terry Fawles to commit suicide) she shows no regret and has no hesitance in killing innocent people in the name of self-preservation. She claims to care for no one but herself. The one exception to this rule appears to be her twin sister Iris: Dahlia confided in her and even got Iris to take her place for six months to get back the necklace she gave to a college student named Phoenix Wright to hide evidence of her presumed successful murder of Diego Armando. Dahlia's trust in Iris disappeared when she sensed her sister's disloyalty in falling in love with Phoenix. She later calls her twin a traitor and shows no concern as Iris stands trial for a murder she didn't commit.
If there's one person who can make Dahlia show her true colours it's Mia Fey. Mia was the first person to show her for the monster she was and Dahlia held her grudge to the grave and beyond. In fact, all Dahlia's murders and attempted murders were either to exact revenge on Mia or to cover up a previous crime.
Her hatred for Mia is so strong that when she meets Morgan Fey, the mother who abandoned her and her sister as children, she strikes up a deal with her. After Dahlia's execution she would be summoned by her younger half-sister Pearl so she can kill Mia's younger sister Maya Fey and Pearl can take the position of Master of the Kurain Channeling Technique. When the plan goes awry and Dahlia ended possessing her aunt Misty and then Maya herself she became so enraged at being so unknowingly close to her intended target for days that she was forced out of Maya's body, never to be summoned again.

[Hello, Siren's Port. There's a very attractive redhead who would like your attention. As the feed begins she's seated with her hands folded and her NV is sitting in her lap. She smiles, the picture of all that is sweet, innocent and sugar-coated.]
Well, this is...unexpected. Hello, everyone, my name is Dahlia Hawthorne. [From offscreen two or three small white butterflies flutter into view and hover around Dahlia's head.]The scientists here have been asking me so many questions but I'm afraid I haven't gotten to ask any myself- [Across the room a woman's voice announces Dahlia's name.]
Oh, I suppose I'm not quite done yet. I'm so sorry to cut this off so quickly. I'm looking forward to speaking to you all after. [Dahlia closes her NV laptop, cutting off the feed.]
Third Person Sample
On a sunny Sunday afternoon in May Dahlia Hawthorne takes a seat at an outdoor cafe. She closes her parasol and sits down at one of the outdoor patio tables, every movement slow and exact as she sets her hands in her lap and patiently waits to be served.
A young waiter who doesn't look like he's out of high school yet arrives quickly and asks for her order in a trembling voice that occasionally cracks. Dahlia shows him a serene smile, politely requesting a cup of coffee and a scone. He scribbles down her order on a pad of paper and hurries away, ears burning red. Her smile disappears the moment he's gone.
A month. Four weeks since she'd arrived in Siren's Port and Dahlia still isn't sure if she hates it or just holds an extreme dislike for it. At the very least it's a step up from prison. She'll never have to wear orange again and that's just fine by her.
The teenage waiter comes back and sets a steaming cup of coffee saturated with cream and sugar and a plate with a scone in front of her with shaking hands. In that same irritating, cracking voice he asks if he can get her anything else. From the look of him Dahlia can tell he doesn't get a lot of attention from women: greasy skin, braces, his obvious fear of looking like an idiot in front of her. Perfect.
The redhead turns her head just slightly, averting her eyes in a submissive manner as she tells him no, this will be all but thank you for asking. He's been so kind and she's so very sorry she can't afford to tip him for working so hard. Dahlia doesn't even have to tear up before he's stammering n-no, no, it's fine! He's been tipped plenty today and don't worry about the bill- he'll take care of it.
Dahlia thanks him, her cheeks tinting pink. That makes the waiter's ears go even more red and he hurries away to take care of another table. Dahlia picks up her coffee and smiles behind her cup. Even after five years in prison and coming back from the dead she still knows how to handle a man.
Maybe Siren's Port wouldn't be such a waste of her time after all.
