And In Writing News

-- Almost finished with a revamped version of The Creationist, all thanks to a very, very, very late night conversation with jo_kaliska .  Jo, you know that whole pound your fist over yur heart thing and then point at the other person?  Imagine me doing that.

Now.  I still have some major doubts about this story, which Jo and I talked about last night as well, though to be honest my brain probably made about as much sense as a lump of fuzzy pudding.  So, since I'm better at writing than I am at verbal communications, let me put this down:

I've been writing for a VERY long time.  One thing I've noticed with my writing is that if something doesn't want to work itself out, it usually means I shouldn't be writing it/should be doing something different.  That's just how it is.  As many of you know, The Creationist has been through quite a bit.  It started out in Edwardian England, moved to 1920s Baltimore.  It started off originally with a mad scientist, his chipper assistant, and a vampire before becoming a doctor, a necromancer, and a prostitute zombie.  It used to have a serial killer and now the serial killer has disappeared.  Lots and lots of changes, and the damn thing hasn't even been written yet.

I look at all the crap going on with trying to get Creationist even started and then I look at how easy it was to do some of my other pieces and it makes me think that maybe I'm not working on the right project.  Maybe THIS isn't MY STORY.

For example, The Adventures of Boots and Hearts.  Y'all remember that little serial piece I did for brigits_flame ?  Well, I've got more of it in the works.  A LOT more, actually.  Like, seven or eight definitely planned adventures.

Or does anyone recall Perpetua Mosh'en and her crew of space smugglers?  Again, I've got LOADS of ideas for them.

Then there's that bit I posted not too long ago with Uli Ghent, a character who's been in my head for YEARS.  There is so much I can do there that it's not even funny.

Oh, and then there's John Doyle, the intrepid reporter who'd been axed from Creationist and given his own world, and his lovely assistant/partner in crime Meredith Morgan.  I sat down one day in the bookstore and wrote, by hand, nearly twelve pages worth of ideas and little half outlines.

So, do you see what I'm talking about here?  I've got like a million ideas going around in my head for all these other projects, but for some reason the one I SHOULD be focusing on just won't write itself.  And, like I said, whenever that's happened in the past it's usually meant I should be doing something else.

Because of this (as well as me being indecisive as hell), I've decided that I'm going to write the first chapter for each of the potential stories.  I'm then going to post them into a poll and let you all have a read through and see which ones strike your fancy.  Each story has its pros and cons as far as publishing purposes go.  I've weighed them all out and looked at them thoroughly, and it all seems to be about equal.  So... yeah.  I'm done trying to decide.  I'll be happy writing any of them, but I really, really, REALLY need reader feedback on this.  I don't want editorial yet, merely thoughts from you fine folks as readers looking to be entertained about whether you'd shell out money to buy my product.

And now for the weather.  Tiffany!
