Pam and Jim - The Office
Normally, I would detest a show like The Office.
I know I hated the UK version.
Which is surprising because I almost always prefer the UK version of a show over the American version.
But I saw a random episode featuring the romance between the two characters of Jim and Pam , who would join forces and then torture the most annoying character on the show, Dwight, with the funniest pranks.
Okay, I have to admit it was torturing Dwight that got me hooked. =)
I have never wanted a couple to get together the way I wanted these two to come together.
Because the two of them seemed so "normal" compared to the entire cast of crazy co-workers, the mockumentary style of direction added this voyeuristic appeal that you made feel more intimate with them as a couple.
Pam would just look directly into the camera with a knowing glance she could never give directly give to Jim, and vice versa with Jim. The interview portions revealed pretenses that tried to cover deeper emotions.
Some where along the line, for brief shining moments, you develop this illusion that this really is a real relationship that is growing.
However, the show has really gone downhill since they have resolved the tension of their "Will they or won't they?" relationship, and I now no longer watch the show.
*sighes*
Yet, because I was so emotionally attached to them as a couple that I still smile when just thinking about those two.
