Okay so last night was quite the shitty adventure... in short... car accident... followed by (in a completely separate incident) a ticket for tinted windows that a cop noticed while i was on the side of the road calling people to get everyone informed about the accident.... what a day... 14 hours of driving plus that shit...
Luckily everyone is okay... no injuries but the typical bumps and bruises. Everyone is just a bit shaken up. I've also made the decision that after driving back down for the winter break, I will not be brining my car back to Potsdam for the rest of the year. I'm sick of the drive, and this is just the last straw on the camel's back; I'm done.
Here's how the accident went, now that I realize I didn't explain. It was a downhill turn, and I began to lose traction. If not for oncoming traffic I would a slipped a bit and been fine, but with this traffic I had work to do. I avoided the oncoming car pretty easily, but the black ice was REALLY bad after that car, and with the downhill slope, my momentum built and l was unable to regain control of the vehicle. It was a valiant effort, and I had it back for a split moment, but it wasn't enough. The ice and hill had built up way to much momentum, and I couldn't avoid going off the road. We slid off the road into the same ditch as two other cars that met similar fates 10 minutes and 1 hour earlier. The ditch, sadly only had room for two, and my car was very intent on occupying the same space as a 1994 Toyota Camry. Thus the door... or lack thereof. Miraculously that was the only unoccupied seat. I thank God for that one.
