Well, our little Teya is gone. We spent the weekend trying to pet and hold and pay attention to her as much as possible. She got into bed with me at 3:30AM today and we cuddled and I had a chance to thank her for 17 years of companionship and love and laughter

You did the right thing. She was failing and you helped her go with ease and dignity.

I'm in the same boat - I'm in a house without a cat. The last time that happened was 1988 when I moved out and left Tabby with you guys! And that didn't last too long. I got Pepper within 3 months! It is strange to sit on the couch and not have to make room.

I'm glad that you and Dad have peace. You should.

It sounds like a wonderful last day to a wonderful life. I'm thankful you know you made the right decision. Caring people usually do, but it's not so easy to *know* it's the right time, and that can be awful.
