Near looked out the glass windows warily at the ocean as the waves churned violent whitecaps due to the storm. It was a strong storm, lightning flashing every few minutes. It's been lasting for a few days at least.

A finger twirled in the albino's hair as he continued to ponder what to do exactly about Yagami in this place. Emperor Yagami...

He had no doubt in his mind that he had obtained the title due to the Death Note. But the fact that he did not even recognized he nor Mello...

His thoughts were interrupted by Mello's voice. He stood from his place on the floor in front of the window and headed over to the door. Opening it, knowing it was Mello, he was irritated to find that someone else was with her. He said nothing, leaving the door open and backed away from it.

She entered the room and held out one of the branches of toys to him.

"Olives?" she asked with an amused snort.

Granted, in the moments she'd been coherent over the past few weeks, she'd developed a couple theories of her own about Yagami that she'd discuss when Nana wasn't present. This was their own battle. There was no real need to drag people into this unless it was absolutely necessary.

Mello wasn't going to have another innocent life on her hands.

When the door opened, Nana regarded the person that opened the door with wide pink eyes. He was... small. Or at least, he was her size, and white all over the same say she was pink. She needed to be wary, 'cause he looked displeased and he wasn't saying a word... but Nana didn't feel one teeny bit threatened by him, and that was a great deal more than could be said of most people she'd met so-far here.

She smiled and extended her own arm and the branch she held, mirroring Mello's gesture perfectly... almost amusingly, really, like a baby bird mimicking its mother.

"Pleased to meet you!"

Near was looking at Mello with a look that clearly said, Who is this girl and why have you brought her here?

He had backed away from the door and saw the toys on the branch that Mello and this...girl offered to him.

"Nice to meet you too," he replied monotonously, not moving to take the branches, though he was content that he would at least have something to do with his hands other than twirl them in his hair. He had been starting to become anxious without any toys around him.

He waited for the girl to introduce herself.

Mello managed to keep down a snicker at Nana copying her so well and walked over to the bed to drop the two branches of toys she held onto it.

"Nana, this is the guy I told you about. And this is my neighbor, Nana," Mello answered as she began systematically snapping the toys cleanly off the colorful branches. She didn't know if Near wanted to give an alias or not, so she left it up to him to give his name.

She also dropped the extra chocolate bars onto the bed and walked over to Near to offer him one, already unwrapping another one for herself with one hand.

Nana lowered her head in a slight bowing motion when Mello supplied her name, smile becoming a tad bit more stressed than before as the young man in front of her kept his face placid and his eyes blank. He felt like a scientist to her, when she thought about it... Papa was a scientist, so that wasn't a bad thing to be necessarily, but scientists were very... blank.

"I only got here a few days ago... You and Mello, you're friends?" Nana bobbed her head slightly towards the blonde woman and smiled a bit more brightly as she noticed that she was snapping the toys off of her tree branches, deciding to set about doing so herself. It was a bit harder to do one-handed, though, and after a little while Nana's lips drew into a flat line as she fiddled with a Godzilla figure... before she simply shrugged and decided to do it with her vectors instead, the toys popping free of the branch one after another.

Mello told her about him? Just who was this girl that Mello would decide to tell her anything? He watched the two as they began to snap legos off of the branches as well as other figurines. "Nice to meet you. You may call me Near."

He received the bar with a "Thank you." and began to unwrap it, taking a very small bite off of the corner and allowing it to melt in his mouth as he watched the small girl warily. He looked up at Mello and gave her a look.

"Yes, we are friends." No use going into their whole life's story after all. Not that there was any reason to warrant a recounting of past events to a stranger that wouldn't understand what he was talking about anyway.

Mello twitched at the look Near was giving her, but didn't bother to respond. Near could shoot her all the dirty looks he wanted, it wasn't like she'd told Nana anything vital.

"Friends." Sure. Right. They'd go with that. Better than explaining anything else.

Mello didn't say another word, just went back to the branches on the bed and continued to snap toys off them for Near.

Nana nodded softly at their words, thinking nothing of the tension that passed between them as they spoke. It was that she was a stranger, maybe. Or that she'd used her vectors, or something like that...

"Um... what are these things, if you- if you don't mind me asking?" Nana lifted one of the toys up in her hand as she asked, gently setting the rest down on the bed by use of her vectors, the toys and the broken-off glass branch all together settling neatly down on the white sheets as she kept her eyes on Near, brows raising hopefully as she questioned him. "I've never seen little tiny people and things like this before."

Near had noticed that she appeared to be using telekinesis. An interesting ability and one that could certainly be useful in a place such as this. He wrapped the chocolate.

"They are toys; building blocks." He moved towards the bed and took a few of them, placing the bar of chocolate next to the branches and putting them on the floor as he kneeled down and began to snap a couple of them together, adding more and more as they became available.

Mello tossed a couple building blocks on the floor in front of him as he began to build them up. She didn't feel a need to explain them, really.

But she couldn't resist amusing herself just a little bit. So she pulled off a block and tossed it so it bounced off the top of Near's head.

"Ahh?" Nana didn't fully understand the concept of 'toys,' truth be told, but she shuffled across the room and knelt down to see what Near was doing with them. Maybe demonstration was better than describing? Her pink eyes were glued to the blocks as the white-haired boy built them up, locking them together in interesting ways.

"Ohhh..." Nana grinned, raising her shoulders up slightly and smiling brightly at what he was doing, suddenly extremely interested. They locked, after all, and the more that were locked together it became apparent that you could use them to make something bigger, and they were colorful plastic and nice to look at... There was a soft, muted 'plunk' and then a yellow block clicked and skittered across the floor, drawing a quick glance from Nana before she looked up at Near, then up past him at Mello, who appeared to be smirking. Her brows raised and her mouth drew into a flat line, as if she were learning and absorbing and didn't find anything at all questionable about doing something like that ( ... )

Near only needed a couple more legos to complete the mock lego gun that he was creating. It was then that he felt a hard object hit his head. He winces slightly, hearing the object land on the other side of him. He looked to find a lego and, judging the angle that it bounced off of his head, Mello was the only one who could have thrown it. He looked over at her with a glare, took one of the legos near him and threw it back at her... ...missing her by at least a foot and a half.

The brat had never had the best aim, so Mello didn't even need to bother dodging him. She just smirked at him and then threw another one at him. She didn't really care if she was being a "bad influence" of any sort to Nana, it was just hilarious to watch him get angry.
