How Captivating Dark Brown Eyes Are...

One of my LJ friends, dreamsinvelvet wrote in her journal,
Eyes.
As deep and rich as dark chocolate.
Stopped me dead in my tracks.

I read her entry and replied as follows, true words from the heart of me:
Such a short entry, a simple statement, that has intrigued me so. I suppose you could say that the post about eyes stopping you dead in your tracks, stopped me dead in mine. Hmmmm.

She replied,
There is something about eyes that enchant me more often than not...

I then told her,
I so agree. Let me tell you about a French-Cuban girl named Cara Melanna Mederez Piterri-Deveraux Varago, and briefly mention her abusive drunk stepfather Ray, who too many people in the story had in the past assumed was her real father...

...She avoided saturating her face with artificial colors, preferring for others to see her as she truly was; and to many others, she was truly beautiful. Though she had been named Cara at birth, she was called Carrie by everyone but her mother and her Latin relatives. In French, cara--a derivative of caress--meant “dear one”; in Italian it implied “sweet”; in Greek, with a slight change in pronunciation, cara was “happiness”; and in Spanish it meant “face,” and was sometimes used in reference to dark eyes and skin. While she had acquired her mother’s Caucasian features, she had also been blessed with the inheritance of her father Raul’s olive-brown color. Her delicately curved cheeks, and the soft skin of her gentle face, were accentuated by a pair of bold and striking eyes. Those eyes were so dark that the brown of her irises were indistinguishable from the black of her pupils. Unlike Ray’s eyes, which were cold and emotionless, her eyes were mysterious and captivating.

So you can see that I have a thing for dark brown eyes. Cara, also called Carrie by her friends, and Caramel (due to Cara-Melanna) by her closest friend John, is one of the main characters in one of my novels.
