LFS McKay and Sheppard visit Sheppard's parents, declassification
I am looking for a story where John and Rodney are on earth, visiting John's parents after declassification. They have a child together, a girl who at birth only wanted one of them? I believe Rodney gerry rigs one of the personal shields so that the "rejected parent" is putting out the right wavelengths.
After the program goes public they receive a letter from John's parents. He hasn't been in touch in like 20 years. The visit is very stilted, very polite until his mother burst into tears. It comes out that John was a very fuzzy child and that John was not thrown out of the air force because his dad went on his knees to beg with every military contact he had. John had no idea. With what they had to go through with their own daughter he can suddenly relate to the troubles his parents experienced when he grew up. They are also chased by journalists, and I do believe John is confronted by an old school friend who wants to save him from going to hell (the friend had found Jesus). They were at Target buying a ton of toys for their daughter.
