If I were to make a movie
It would be something that you could only find at vision videos
And a vision to be seen.
And no one would pay blockbuster renal fees to see it.
I wouldn't.
It would be a surrealist vision of this summer
With close-ups on all of our faces
And our hands.
In fact, they would be extreme.
So close that you couldn't truly make out what they are.
Interspersed with these images would be a pile of mud,
And hands,
And a salmon jumping upstream,
And hands,
And a toy dinosaur attacking a woman,
And hands,
And a '60s beach party,
And...
Hands.
Hands moving in excited expression
Flying through the air like feathers.
Folded quietly in a solemn lap.
Brushing paper with their dance
And leaving a trail of words.
Reaching out for someone
Brushing hair out of their eyes.
Pressed against the floor holding a body upside down.
And inside out.
I did say surrealist, didn't I?
And the ending?
There would be no ending.
Perhaps the edge of straight lips
Curling into a smile.
The edge of an eye
Suddenly flowing with wrinkles.
Smile lines,
my favorite.
And once more a hand.
The final hand to be played.
It would be holding a camera,
The all remembering eye,
And it would reach straight out from the screen
And straight into your living room
Passing the buck to you.
Because this film was 5 for 5 and you need to get your moneys worth.
